Default Different Sounds for Recoilless

I dunno if it's still possible to get new sounds for the game, but I feel like Recoilless guns should have a different sound from standard Dogfighter weapons. Recoilless weapons use an interesting gas-ejection system that makes a kind of low, flat, thwap sort of a sound, as opposed to the sharper sound that a standard weapon makes. Anyway, just another idea from Hurri's Department of Useless Suggestions

I did not realize that. Hmmmmm. It would make sense for HC machine gun and Dogfighter MG to have different sound, as HC MG does about 2/3 the damage, which would imply a lighter caliber or lower velocity round. The thing about recoilless weapons is, they sound very different from standard ones.

Here are two sound samples from youtube. The weapons are 20mm, which is probably the caliber of Dogfighter and Recoilless' main guns.

This is the standard rifle :

is that recoiless gun firing a rocket?
it seems a bit loud

regular rifle sounds blunt which fits the dogfighter perk

It's a 20mm gun, of course it's loud.

So my biplane has that kind of gun on it ?

No, recoilless is not firing a rocket, it appears that way because recoilless weapons shoot some of the gasses from the round out the rear of the weapon, creating a lot of smoke and whatnot, but balancing the force acting on the front of the gun with the force on the rear, creating a recoilless gun.

@tyr - Yah, that;s ur gun, just yours is fully automatic

oh well make recoilless' gun much louder than dogfighter's machine gun if you were to be realistic

It's not just the level of sound. That's due mostly to the mics used on the guns anyway. The main difference is that the recoilless rifle is bassier and has less of a strong attack to the sound. The standard rifle has a sharp attack and has more of a clipping sound, like the current sounds for Dog and Recoilless.

Er, a "recoilless rifle" is just a completely different kind of technology from a standard firearm. The Biplane machine gun isn't supposed to be an anti-tank weapon, it's just a normal gun with greatly reduced kick.

that said, a different sound would be kinda cool.

Well yes and no. Granted recoilless rifles are made for a different purpose, but the way they reduce recoil is the same way that a recoilless autocannon would, which is why the sound would be similar. I couldn't find any sound samples for a recoilless autocannon, so I went with two anti-tank rifles just to show the difference in attack and timbre between recoilless and regular cannons.

The main point of the thread wasn't to get all technical about it anyway. I just thought that, with the new sounds out, it might be nice to finally give recoilless and dogfighter different sounds.

EDIT : By that I mean, give recoilless a different sound from Dogfighter. Dogfighter's sound is cool

It would also be nice if there was a visual difference as well: the bullets which deal more damage could have a brighter glow.
(Even if there's the damage difference between dogfighter and recoilless is 1).
