Default Server listing <-> invalid pings

Hi,

in the server browser the pings of most servers are ranged between 200 and 800. But after joining one of them I have a ping of 50-100 or something like that.
Even my own server is displayed with a ping like 300, but I can play perfectly on it with 50ms.

Though there are always 4-6 servers that are displayed with the correct pings - always the same 4-6 servers.

Do you have the same issue? Or is it just me, caused by my small bandwidth (1000kbit/s down, 128kbit/s upstream)?

How to fix?

Best regards, bmaker

Hello again,

today I got a new ISP (Internet Service Provider). My bandwidth now is 20 times bigger than before and the described problem is gone.

@Developers: Obviously you ping all known servers simultaneously, which leads to incorrect ping results if one isn't a lucky guy with a huge bandwidth.

Best regards, bmaker

Unfortunately we do not ping all servers simultaneously, the default concurrent ping limit is 25. What you were experiencing might have been aggressive traffic shaping by your ISP. If you are truly bandwidth limited you can modify the server-list retrieval settings by opening ~Altitude/config/options.xml in a text editor and changing <networkOptions...maxConcurrentServerRequest="25 " to maxConcurrentServerRequest="5".

Thanks for the update. It's helpful to know for sure that this issue was ISP-related.
