Alternate ways to earn skins

Since this is seeming to be an issue, I thought I'd get a brainstorming thread going.

To get the ball rolling:

Maybe some based off of killstreaks? Like getting a 25 KS gets you a "radioactive" skin. (Call of duty reference)
Getting MVP like 3 (Or any number) games in a row maybe?
Maybe a gold plane (Like gold guns in CoD4) for getting 50000+ Kills with a single plane?
Or a skin for getting over 1 million XP?
What about all of the teams that make the playoffs in APL3 get a skin?
Or a special skin for everyone who's account is older then the official game launch.

Just some thoughts. Post your ideas.

Awesome Idea. I like when you have to get something, work for it

The Bomber Kill Markings etc.

How about one were there is a American Flag or something?
And also make the default skin available.

Can you earn skins yet or is this an Idea?

This is just a brainstorming thread for other ways to get skins with the hope that Lam or Karl will see something here and take it.

Flag skins would be an interesting idea.

I like the idea that you can get community points by playing the game. I think it would be a lot more appealing to people playing the game and for those who cant get their friends to play (most of mine already do, so its too late for me).

Same. I already got a bunch of people to play long before this was implemented.

Also, how would skins work out in team games? How would you be able to tell which team a player is on if everyone has a tiger camo biplane?

Elite Plane skin

For players who have won APL

so all members on the ACE and fLb would get a skin, since they won apl 1 and 2

I think the idea is to look at the concept as something more community oriented rather than individual. I agree that I think that there should be many ways to earn your points, but I don't think that having individual "grinds" really help the cause of building the player base. I am not saying that it is your responsibility to build the player base, but I think that there are many ways out there other than simple kill streaks or xp markers.

Yeah I have 103 community points sitting around now so I would love when the skins are up and coming XD

Do you need any help in design for any lam/karl? I could probably whip up some crude visual designs then leave it to the pros to modify all the images.

I don't know if I am going to have any people that will click my link on facebook so I probably won't get very many community points. There should be other ways to earn points.

And to all ye who read this thread. You can now see that Lamster/Karl have now tapped into the same very mystical power that feeds WoW... and they haven't even activated it yet.

Pretty soon there will be enchants, glyphs, trinkets, and items for your plane. Every server will be flooded with:

WTS +10 Damage enchant to Recoilless, 2000 Community Points PST
WTB +20 Stam to Heavy Armor, paying 1200 Community Points PST

Guys lam said the community points is a work in progress. Now, I don't agree with the current community points format, but they're just trying to make the game fun while expanding the player base (which makes the game even more fun).

Constructive criticism > flames

Which was the whole point of this thread in the first place.

What are these skins going to be, anyway? Changes to the coloring, or changes to the player model?

As for colors (for ffa, not team games), how about coding in a simplistic color editor, so people can come up with their own unique color schemes? I've played many games where that was an option.

I think too many people are asking "what is this going to be?" Why not just wait and see when it happens? The devs have so much on their plate, they might be working with a graphic artist and still not completely know which direction they are going. If you have specific ideas about what you would like to see then by all means post that, but continually asking what it's going to be isn't' helping anyone.
