I don't see a date on the duel tournament yet, possibly could you change the potential date to another week?

Yes, you are. In the sense that looking through rosters clans are >12 and if they want to switch in people they are free to do so.
They can no switch in a match but before and after.

after that is APL, so i cant switch the dates

Honestly, 5v5 ball isn't that great right now. It is too heavily favored towards abusing the Miranda self pass. 5v5 is a good format for TBD and I think that's why a lot of people who don't really play ball all that much think that 5v5 is good for ball too. If I were you I would change the format to at least 6v6 and ideally 7v7. Otherwise, you are just gonna end up with Miranda fail and a lot of players who will lose interest in doing this type of competitive ball.

I agree with 6v6 being better, esp. as it is much better at lowering miranda self pass abuse.
However, gotta try to know. If it seems like more players are better try 6v6 next time.

The problem is really the size of the maps. Most ball maps are much bigger than a normal TBD map so that it can tolerate a larger amount of people (like the 10v10 servers). So when you end up playing 5v5, there is just too much open space and it changes the game of ball too much. I did create some smaller maps, like core, woods, but those maps are less than ideal. Well if you decide to go 5v5 then just know you have been warned!

And thanks for misquoting the guide. 6v6 is highly preferable to 5v5 for ball.

Ball matches should be 6v6 or 7v7 if possible, otherwise 5v5.

Neither size is a cluster****... I find that an odd statement.

Anyhow, I'm really not trying to start more arguments. I just keep seeing players without a whole lot of experience at ball mouthing off about it. I know it's the bastard step-child to tbd, but come on.

I'm actively testing the current maps.
I think Maze actually works on a 6v6 level, snow does not.

Snow doesn't work? Damn, I love that map. Maze is kind of excessively randa-friendly isn't it? What about mayhem, cave, cross, darkwar (one of my favorites)? Can we have a poll to help you decide?

I also like Snow, and in my experience it works quite well when you've got two teams which are good at Ball -- some of the most fun I've had has been on Snow with a small pool of talented Ball players.

Outside of those conditions, though -- i.e., with a large mob, or with lots of new players, or with players who are trying to use a TBD style of gameplay -- it does tend to slog down, at least in my opinion. Given that most teams will probably be playing TBD in everything but name, I suspect a map like Snow wouldn't result in much fun for most of the players.

Seconded! Maps with wide, expansive spaces like Woods and Football -- and, to a lesser extent, Lost City, Mayhem1, and Core -- can sometimes be fun, especially with the right people, but for competitive Ball games there's not much Ball-ish about them. Ball maps have no need for a zone-defense ground and bomb-drop-friendly sky. =P

Personally, I'd vote for Mayhem2, Maze, and maybe Cross, but that's just me. =)

To be honest, looking over the list of official Ball maps is rather depressing -- all of the worst maps are on there, and few of the best maps are. I suppose that's a topic for a different thread, though. :-/
