Replays
I searched, and apparently no one has suggested this before.
I think it would be interesting to be able to save a replay of a match, and be able to watch it later. I'm not sure how the networking system works, but maybe keeping all network packets could work. What do you think? |

There is a video capture mode available that will hide all of the user interface, command /capturemode true I believe, but you'll have to use third party software to record it. I don't think there's any plans to support recording more than this.

Thanks for the reply.
What I had in mind was to have the possibility to be watching a replay like if you were spectating. That would include being able to jump from plane to plane. But I understand that this is too complex to come out by release day. Would be cool though. |

I think a very simple system could be added if it's in the same style of starcraft replays. (the video can only move forward)

What's next, battle reports?

when we implement a replay system it will be limited just like starcraft/war3. We will simply record the controls players pressed and then "play" that back for replays.
this is something we have talked about supporting but we dont have the time to do it right now. |

Shameless forum necroing here.
I wonder if this feature is still considered or dropped completely. Even something as simple as Blizz-like would be great, not only for the viewing pleasure of missed matches, but also I think it would have an added value in a team-game like Altitude. It would be a wonderful tool for teams to analyze games, improve their gameplay and set strategies. Sorry if it has been discussed somewhere else since, didn't find it. |

On the other hand, this can increase "lag bitching" a lot. |

Huge support from me to this feature. I find this far more important than the clan tags for example, and definitely as one of the things that should be done sooner or later. I know it's not the quickest of features to implement, but it's still quite doable and easily makes the game feel a lot more "professional". I think this one would probably increase the quality of the game community over time as players could more easily "take the game seriously" as they could analyze replays, share them, download replays from interesting games such as league and tournament finals, etc.

Full support for this, I think this would be very helpful for the newcomers to learn from the pros, because then they could upload their replays, and be like, skip to 1:03 and you can see me _____. and so on. Not to mention being able to see how a team plays and learning from that would be pretty cool I'd think!

What I had meant is that you could like, rewind, pause/play, fast forward through the replay file, and view the map from any point in the game, or follow any plane you want, rather then when the a player chooses to record the game; this allows the player to think "Oh wow, I just did some really good flying which someone could learn from" but doesn't have to face the "oh damn, I forgot to record the game this time, I'm not sure if I can do it again".

Rewind is really tricky to implement efficiently. The rest is basically what I think Karl means with "limited just like starcraft/war3".

I think it would be nice if it was like one of those Car games - when you're done racing it plays a replay, but it would save the replay somewhere.
