Perhaps a chat channel
You may consider adding a chat room type of feature for before you join a server. If you played starcraft, warcraft, diablo, etc made by Blizzard and used Battle.net you can have a good idea what I am talking about. You could make your own channels and be in control of channels if you went to clan yourname you got channel rights. If you want altitude to have alot of clans this may be a great feature. If you do add such a thing please let us make bots by making it listen on a TCP port. Then our bot could connect to it and send requests that would then be sent to the server if necessary. Just an idea, it would be nice to talk to people to discuss strategy before you go duel in a clan battle.

Not sure if that's necessary
If you look at Counter-Strike's example, there doesn't need to be any chatrooms for a game to have a very strong clan component. The ease of server creation and the ability to leave and join running games (in contrast to StarCraft and WarCraft) make clan servers likely a better option than chatrooms. Of course, there's always Ventrillo.

If you look under the "Friends" menu you can host a chat room. Voice support is currently disabled cause of bugs but there will be in game voice support and chat room voice support so there shouldn't be a need for ventrillo.
