Default Midnight Lost City

Midnight Lost City

I basically just modified all the original graphics, added stars and a moon.
I also increased the vertical size with 200 pixels and changed locations of the powerups, made some of the parallax layers scroll vertically and moved some spawn points upwards.
Just doing this for myself mostly, I really wanted to play this map at night time and I think it's looking great.

I'm just getting used to the rough indie artstyle and I think it's awesome!
I've learned a lot from working on the individual sprites of this map, and know I know how the editor works and how to do maps from scracth, my next map will only contain original artwork and layout.

Feedback would be appreciated.

It's currently up and running on my server called: Seiseki - Midnight Lostcity is up and running!

*NEW* FFA map added!
*NEW* All maps updated to 1.1! (minor tweaks)

It's only TDM at the moment, I'll do Ball, TBD and FFA later.

Map looks great, but I can already foresee a problem-wall detection. Many of the colors are around the same, and this will make it difficult for some of us who cannot discern colors with as much ease as you and I.

Hey, thanks..

Creds go to the artist who did the original artwork though, I simply switched around some colors and did some minor changes..
(although it did take a while)

Actually the walls that are collidable are much sharper, have more contrast and highlights, in addition to the black outlines..
But you might be right, compared to the original map the collidable pieces and the background are almost the same in brightness...

It sure looks pretty.

Since it's entirely monochromatic, I doubt color-blind peeps will have more trouble detecting boundaries than anyone else.

It reminds me of nightlands from the grassland variation contest.

Edit: holy **** the reflection of the moon off the water is SWEET. This map is giving me chills.

Glad you noticed it, I love the way the parallax layers work, giving depth and such..
I'll definitely play around with that a bit more in my next map.

^&$%^&$&^%$ that is a nice looking map!!! The extra vertical pixels don't seem to do much for TDM, but it might be interesting to cut out the side tunnels and see how it plays.

I'd love to see a ball version.

That looks nice. I always liked middleground for its dark sky even when the map sucked. Your palette just feels right.

Very nice map. Too bad it's tdm and not tbd...

This could be the start of a whole new line of existing popular maps converted to night time (hint*hint*).

Look again!
Now, what was that about not being TBD?

Actually making a Snowy Lostcity version would be cool, but I think one variation might be enough :P
