Turrets
I used to play an MMOG called subspace/continuum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SubSpace_%28video_game%29) which is very similar to Altitude. The idea of turrets in that game was cool and I think it could be well implemented here in this game.
Basically a player would teleport onto or piggyback another player's ship. That player can then fire his weapons to support his pilot and add diversity to the ship's fire power. In subspace you could also detach from the person's ship right after you turreted onto them and I think that would be bad for altitude. However, the idea of simply turreting might add something. You could make that a special optional ability for some of the "mother ships" (ie bomber and explodet). You could also make it that your ship flies a little slower because of your turret. You could allow the turret to shoot 1 single missile (like basic loopy F-key firing) in a 360 degree/all-around-the-mothership fashion. What do you guys think? -Fishi |

BTW the Altitude game "ball" was most like subspace soccer a.k.a. powerball.
