Is bomber the new whale?
So after watching my fair share of ladder games and playing in a lot of scrims, I've noticed that map control is more often then not determined by who has more bombers then explodets. Is anyone else noticing a similar phenomenon, or is it just me?

It's more of a reaction to the explodet dominance. Explodet is by far the most powerful plane so people kept using it more and more. The only plane that can counter Explodets is bomber so teams started playing 2 bombers, usually to counter the 2 explodets in the other team.
In some maps though (Asteroids, Grotto, Lostcity, Middleground) bomber spam works fantastic for map control. In some cases the chokes are small enough so that all of it is covered by the grenades radius and nothing can get through. I still think the balance between hevay and light planes is not very good. With the exception of bomb-runners and GOOD lasers and acids, there's no room for light planes in competitive 5v5. Edit: Well the snipers (trickster and HC) can be helpful in defence too but they have to stay under cover while their team is being swallowed by the heavy planes pushing and then you'll be outnumbered. I don't see an explo-less team winning much. That said, a good bomber is nice for chokepoint control, which is nice for winning.

Bombers also can stall people like 'plodet mines after hitting them with about two nades. So I can see this being plausible.
