Default Altitude on Windows 98SE?

I recently built a computer for all my older games and installed windows 98 on it. I installed altitude, but each time I try and run it, the splash screen comes up, and then it gives me a "Submit bug report" box.

Any idea what could be wrong? Could it be the fact I'm running Windows 98? My normal computer also has Altitude, and it runs Windows XP, and it works fine there, but I wanted to install Altitude on here so I could play with a friend.

Specs:
Windows 98SE
576 MB Ram
16 MB Diamond Viper v550 (nVidia Riva TNT)
200 GB HD with 180 GB Free

EDIT: I have also tried launching from firefox (www.altitudegame.com/playnow) and I get the same problem (if Firefox doesn't freeze and crash first)

You need Windows XP at the minimum in order to run Altitude.

How did you purchase it? Off Steam or outright?
Sorry to break your angry remark but it specifies down the bottom of the screen here/ on Steam Forums, that you need XP/Vista/Windows7 to run it.

If you didn't purchase off Steam, then I'm not too familiar with what is displayed throughout the purchase process (I've been playing over a year and a bit)...

However, you said you recently built a computer for your old games? Is it correct to assume you have a separate machine with any of the necessary Operating Systems on it? Could you partition your hard drive to put the separate OS on?

Also, if you use XP, nearly all games beforehand should run fine if you run them in 98SE compatibility mode (right click the icon, click properties, then the compatibility tab). Vista has difficulties though - so XP is your best bet.

On top of the fact that you're trying to run Altitude on a 12 year old operating system, you also don't meet the graphics card requirements:

I'd be really surprised if alt couldn't run on Win98SE, but your video card might be a challenge.

Maybe it could run on 98 somehow, but I doubt the developers wasted time testing it out on 98. Not many people are still using that operating system, even less so to play new games.
