I think a really cool feature would be once you get to ace 10 you could choose which badge you use. But the way people could still tell that you were ace ten is a little golden circle or something like that so people would know you were ace 10. eg, Ace6 copy.png

Yeah that would be a good idea, but the already started the prestige and I have 1,281,610 life time XP and I am sure other people have a lot more than that.

The downside is programming time, most definitely. From my experience coding the altitude ladder (which is an infinitely smaller project than altitude itself is) and in my real job, even the most minute of changes requires extensive thought and testing, and might break completely unrelated areas of the code if done improperly. I simply don't think it's worth karl and lam's time to spend time on a cosmetic change like this, relative to its value.

The second downside is the overload in unnecessary features. If we suppose that karl and lam had infinite amount of time on their hands, theoretically we could have them implement all the wide variety of features (the ones that don't impact gameplay) suggested on this board, but it would make the game unnecessarily complex. At some point you have to stop and think, will this really add to the game? Or will it just confuse people when they find out that oh, that particular picture means someone's ace level 6, except maybe when they have that yellow dot on the right, but hey wait what's the green star on the top left, etc etc.

If lam and karl hand infinite funds, programmers, and artists, at their disposal I'm sure they would give everything in the suggestion forum a try. Even freeze tag, capture the flag, a real single player mode, more planes/maps, destructible terrain, lasers that reflect off shields, a built in ladder, a version for every operating system, console, and smart phone under the sun.... and most importantly, barrel rolls.


Speaking of things that would be awesome in Altitude 2, I'm super curious to know are you guys considering porting altitude or making another game? Or have you had your fill of indy gaming?

I must agree with nobody, the devs are only two people and can only focus on so many things at once. While this may be a good idea, there are plenty of more useful things for the game the devs can be dedicating their time to.

My name is on the "yes" but I really wanted to vote "no". This doesn't make sense, the badges purpose is to signal the rank you're on. If you prefer to keep some lower rank badge, don't ace up. Soon someone will start asking to have a biplane with randa's skin or a loopy in explodet skin.

Just choose, do you prefer to keep your favorite badge or do you prefer to show off and ace up?
