Completely new game (well, almost)
I know the devs are just 2 people. Here is an idea that can re-use lots and lots of code and still be a completely "new" game.
How about a car game where the view is from above (just as altitude has skipped one dimension - this game can also be completely 2D). There is almost a perfect set of vehicles for this new game, just skip the gravity and draw some new car-graphics. Loopy = Buggy Bomber = Heavy Tank Biplane = Light Tank Miranda = Well, something wierd etc etc Some weapons need replacing (bombs) but most/lots of them can stick around. The "stall" can be replaced with a "spin" where you lose control for a while (after hitting a mine, turning at high speed etc). Or, perhaps that when you come to a complete stand-still your wheels have bad grip (spins), unless you have the anti-spin perk of course Game modes: The TBD game mode needs a new weapon, perhaps a missile that actually propells itself towards the target. Ball can be as it is as well as FFA, TDM. It would be a "new" game that has the really nice look-and-feel of altitude. I suspect that it would attract more players to altitude as well. And, perhaps most importantly, the coding work is significantly reduced (so we can expect a beta within a year or so). /grubbegrabben |
