APL3 Playoff Flaw

Notice the bracket?
This has KLF playing IL then (||).
Now I don't want to speak for my team, but I don't want to play (||) unless it is in the finals.
I know people may say "what does it matter, the winner is the winner no matter who they play. If you can't beat (||) before the finals, you wouldn't beat them IN the finals"

Well that's simply BS.

If you follow the standard format:
1v8
2v7
3v6
4v5
Then the bracket is wrong. fLb placed 5th and KLF placed 6th.

If this bracket was to happen, then we would most likely be looking at:
(||) > DW
| > ##
L* > fLb
IL >KLF

This results in:
(||) > IL
| > L*

Now, those predictions are simply based on the seeds. Of course there can be an upset, but that is how it would most likely look.

However, KLF can beat IL and fLb can beat L* and L* can beat | along with fLb. The whole bracket is wrong if we play it the way it is set.




Notice here, how KLF must play L* and THEN |. Well, we beat L* already and we tied |. So that is much more likely for us to win rather than playing IL and (||), two teams we already lost to.

Tournament brackets are designed so that the 1st seed and the 2nd seed can play each other in finals. Well, what about the 5th and 6th. We deserve a chance also!

This bracket actually allows KLF a strong chance at making finals. Now, I am now saying that the whole schedule should be changed, jsut because YORK wants HIS team to win. I want all the teams to play the fair matches, and have a fair finals.

OF COURSE, this could all be avoided by ACE not dropping out. The following bracket is what it really would look like if ACE stayed.


WAIT, does that not look like fLb and (||) in finals? The way it was predicted and the way it should be!

PLEASE, I know ACE won't decide to stay, but even if they drop out, keep the bracket looking fresh!

As retarded as York's reasoning is, his end point is actually right. fLb and KLF should be switched on the bracket because fLb and KLF are actually 5th and 6th seeds respectively, not the other way around. fLb went 6-4-0 and KLF went 5-4-1, which places fLb solidly above KLF. thanks nobo for clearing it, i got bored half way through the post and i didnt quite understand what york was saying. But if its really wrong just switch the two teams it isnt so difficult since it doesnt change team playing time and stuff like that.

However funny York's reasoning is, it's true that the brackets should be fixed. Attached is how the updated bracket is looking right now (and yes, I apologize for my horrendous Photoshop skills). I'll try to get in touch with Storm to confirm the change but until then assume this is how the matches will be played. I'll make a post in the official thread and edit his OP to reflect the changes as well.

Yeah this is the problem here. You talk like you don't want KLF to play vs IL because you have a bigger chance of lpsing that way.

Arranging the bracket based on who you want to play completely defeats the point of the league prior to the playoffs and rejects post-season seeding. The only way that makes any sense whatsoever is the bracket that I have posted, and that is the way it will remain unless Storm says otherwise.
