Default tbd_radioactive

I have been working with hartz on a new map using the graphics from tbd nuclear, the map is still in an early development stage graphics wise (i gave it to hartz today) but the gameplay is nearly complete.



the background is missing and will not be white.

i would like some ideas/suggestions so i can then edit the map, and once editing is done hartz can do his work. hartz said he will do completely new graphics if people like it otherwise he will just adjust the original nuclear ones.

EDIT: resolution was huge so i posted a small scale one and in the thumbnail there is the full scale map.
EDIT2: too big for thumbnail, just look at the pic.

I think it has too many circle things on the top. But what you could do is take the one on the bottom left, and move it further left and a bit higher, because it seems a bit open up there. And do the same for the right. The chains above the bases look a bit weird since they connect do nothing.
Aside from those two things it looks like a really good map

Aside from those two things it looks like a really good map
theres really lots of space up top in the middle if you try it (it looks clustered but it isnt), i didnt wanna add anything on the far left and right so it doesnt look to clustered, but i can try moving the circles out a bit if it doesnt work. the graphics are gonna be made after this so dont worry about stuff like chains and background.

Yeah it does look a little clustered, idk i gotta try it out. looks good overall though

cant decide till i play it but looks good, i would lower side walls of base though for long lob but only by half so its not too easy to lob!

The layout is interesting - a little open. And the map looks pretty large, what are the dimensions ?

Hey!

If you ment the little walls next to each end of the base, then yeah, we must lower these anyway, so planes can actually land on the base and take off without crashing <3

3990x1400. It's a standard map size (for example Cave has the exact same size, while Mayhem is 4032x1440). It does feel big and lonely out there when you are testing it with only 2 bots, but when it's 5v5 or even 7v7, then i think it's good .

Although i didnt played it yet im gonna say that i dont like it.
IMO theres loads of dead space, and im not forgeting the so needed room for dogfighting.
One thing i especially dont like, is the very very small walls (bricks) in the center at the top and bottom of the map! At the bottom, those are doing nothing except keeping powerups cosy! At the top, looks like an asteroids field, who will wanna go there? Randas only? I think especially center/top part of the map should have 1, 2 or 3 more interesting objects in terms of play and ahestetics.

Form follows function so im sure you can rethink some walls.
Im sure you will end getting a very good map and im glad were gonna have another beautifull 3D map)))))
I hope i was constructive! I know its always bad to read bad things but, it just my opinion, please dont take me wrong.

i think i will add something in the top corners to make them less empty. you can manover an explo without problems around the top "bricks".. the problem could be too much emty space between the two sets of blocks, a loopy can just go straight through, so i might change the disposition a bit. thanks for the critics, theyre apreciated.

As some of you already know, i managed to get my private server running. So you can try the map out there, until we can get it on better servers.

And i know it's uber-laggy (server is located in the Eastern part of Europe) and has some wierd plane speed problems (probably caused by the ping), but i think it's good enough for testing.

I'll try to keep it running as long as possible (or needed).

we are now working on keeping this layout but using tbd_scrapyard graphics, what do you think?

here is the new map, we changed the graphics to scrapyard ones and then we made more space up top as the community requested.

I think it is much better. I just dont understand the bottom middle object? Is that for hidding? we cant pass through it can we?

its just something to hide behind when bombrunning to separate the two sides of the map..
the map is normal size, just like cave.
