Default Altitude on steam. Log in from linux??

Hi!

Thank you for Altitude, it's the best action with airplanes I have played ever.

I have purchased Altitude on my Steam account (Windows), few hours later I made up own server (Linux) and I discovered Linux version of Altitude. I am natively using Linux (Ubuntu), so I tried to install it (successful), but I don't know how to log into my Altitude account (purchased via Steam). I don't have any key (except confirm code of steam payment).

Is here any way to do that? - log into my account from Linux? Something like transfer Steam-Altitude account into common Altitude account?

I don't want to use wine to emulate Steam :-/.

Thank you for help!

I think I have found "solution" of my problem :-(. Last two lines on page http://altitudegame.com/buynowold.html about Steam.

Steam is only available on Windows and Mac OSX. If you purchase from Steam you must launch Altitude from the Steam client. Altitude purchased from Steam cannot be run on Linux.
Please, is there any way to transfer my steam account to standard altitude account? Thanks for reason

OK... if anyone will have same question like me, reason is simple - Unfortunately, but definitively NOT. It's not possible to log Steam account without Steam running

Hopefully the rumors (With evidence, see link.) of a steam linux client is true.

Kid: Daddy I dropped a vase and I don't know what to do.

Daddy: Well here you go, use this glue to stick it back together and it'll be fixed

Kid: NO I DON'T WANT TO USE GLUE! You fix it for me! <- that's you

Yes you made a mistake because it says clearly on the website that if you purchase a steam version you can't log in on linux. The devs are not obligated to make a fix around it, even though you want to make it sound like that.

And if you don't want to use wine, just use playonlinux. Which is also on that website which I think you didn't even bother to read.

Wait, I purchased the steam version and I log in from linux....

When I bought my copy on steam it made you register an account on the altitude servers with email address and a password and automatically logs in via that address and password. I then downloaded the linux demo, typed in that account name and password to unlock the demo into the full thing and am happily playing on linux. Or windows. Only thing about linux is that you won't register achievements on windows. But it works just fine on linux.

This is the legacy Steam client. New Steam users do not have this behavior see the news thread.

Closing thread. Everything you need to know can be found in the news:

http://altitudegame.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3039

Quote:
NOTE: This only effects purchases of Altitude from Steam
NOTE: This has no effect on current Altitude players who purchased from Steam.

Starting now (March 23rd, 2010) if you purchase Altitude from Steam you must launch Altitude from Steam. Altitude is now using Steam authentication.

Why the change?

1. Valve/Steam cyber cafe program.
2. Steam promotional free weekends.
