Default Configuring without server_configurator (linux)

How do I configure my server without using the server_configurator? I'm putting this on a dedicated server that's not at my location, and I don't have any X display configured for it. Can I configure the files locally and then move them, or just edit them? What files do I care about?

It's not immediately obvious which files I need to edit. Where are the configuration files? I see the config files for the client, but where is it for the server?

get the standalone windows files from http://altitudegame.com/download.html then run the configurator, edit the file as you wish, it will be created in a subdir called servers and the file is called launcher_config.xml just upload it to same named subdir on your server. (create the subdir if it isnt there on your server.)

Heres a fun hint you wont find *anywhere* on this site or wiki which I just figured out after a lot of trial and error... open up port 31383 t0o so the server can communicate with official/master server or some such. otherwise java will eat you alive and kick your dog.

Yeah, got it. That's the file alright. I don't think the file is there until you either run the server once or run the configurator. I used the configurator on my local machine and then just FTP'ed the file in.

Now the problem I have is that I've configured four different servers, but only one of them shows up in the registry. Meh. Does it take some time for new servers to show up there or something?

Yeah, I had to log out and back in to refresh the list on my client. They're there and being enjoyed. Check out the Jupiter servers. They're running on one of my dedicated servers with plenty of extra CPU. They're actually not taking much of anything. Four servers and it's 4% of CPU (400% available with 4 cores) and 314 MB of memory (4 GB available, with plenty free).

Jupiter - Shuffle Server 14p (Full)
Jupiter - 6v6 Ball Server 12p (Half Full)
Jupiter - Team Base Destruction Server 10p (Empty)
Jupiter - Football Map Server 22p (Full)

I get ping times of 11 - 13 ms, and they're not even hosted here at my house.
