Default Team 1: Preferred Planes

Hey TS,
What planes do you use most often or which planes are you most comfortable with? This will assist us in deciding which maps to veto since certain planes are advantaged on certain maps.

Personally, I'm best at flying Loopy and Bomber.

Depends on the map, but I'm generally most comfortable / skilled with Loopy, Biplane or Explodet.

I see the ideal makeup on most maps being:

Explodet (Director -- need at least one of this mode)
Explodet (Thermbarics or Director) (or possibly Miranda with Trickster or Laser)
Biplane (Preferably Heavy Cannon)
Biplane (Preferably Heavy Cannon)
Loopy (Acid Bomb)

Best with biplane/heavy cannon...on the other hand, every time I play as loopy I feel like I'm cheating somehow. I'm also very comfortable with explodet. I can play miranda if I have a day's warning to warm up. Bomber = no.

As far as what I think a well rounded mix of planes would be...I think there should be:

- At least one loopy (any config, though I personally favor EMP)
- At least one biplane (heavy cannon preferred)
- At least one explodet (any config)
- The other two planes could be anything at all including the ones already mentioned.

But let me say that I really feel people should play whatever they want, including if it means switching planes in the middle of a fight if they just aren't having any luck/fun. I think the game's pretty well balanced and I don't think any mix will be super detrimental to achieving a victory with skilled pilots.

[TS] tactical goals:

1.) Focus fire ryebone.
2.) Wait for ryebone to respawn.
3.) See #1.

skill order:

1) biplane
2) loopy
3) explodet
4) bomber
5) miranda

I'm at least "good enough" with all of them, though.

oh and for team composition, I'd say that the ideal would be:

1 heavy armor loopy for bomb running
1 dedicated defense director explodet
everyone else uses the plane they are most skilled at... there are probably a couple optimal team compositions, but I think at the level everyone's at, the effect of skill outweighs that.

That sounds pretty good. I would like to add another laser miranda/loopy for defense/general killing.

I'm pretty good at heavy armor loopy bomb runs. Just throwing that out there.

I would like to add that sometimes (rarely) director can help the bomb carrier get a hit.

I really don't think anyone should think of themselves as "dedicated defense" or a dedicated bomb runner. That is foolishness, as soon as the bomb spawns, someone should grab it (even if they don't immediately attack). This will help the bomb respawn faster. No one should think of themselves as dedicated to defense. Everyone should be willing to attack if the opportunity arises and everyone should be willing to carry the bomb if it's needed.

Our first game is scheduled!

Finally!

Into The Walls, or [30D.O.M], is facing off against the presumed giant of the league: Team Solid - [TS]. Tec27 and I will be casting the game - you'll be able to watch it on Monday, April 27 at 8 P.M. EST.

There can be no beating around the bush: Team Solid is the immediate favorite to win the game. They've got the experience and knowledge to compete with and beat any team in the league. Even more important, they've got big names - Pillars, to name just one, is the [TS] captain. But what about Dio, Skywalker, Yankeeboy, and Protest Boy? And that's just half of their team.

That makes Into The Walls the underdog. But don't be so quick to count them out: they've got recent activity on their side. Keen, in particular, is one of the most active players in the league. There's no doubt that you are much more likely to catch a [30D.O.M] tag in the TL server than a [TS] tag. That ought to offer more than a glimmer of hope to the team. If they scrimmage and put in a bit of effort, this game should be closer than you think.

So - who can make this? I'd love to give it a shot, it's just within reasonable hours for me (2am here).

Wow, sounds epic! I just love Team Liquid more and more! The very existence of that page says so much about what where Altitude could go.

Also, Dio and I are time-zone buddies! High-five! (I'll probably be sleeping. Especially with such good game coverage that I can go watch it later on TL! I hope they do it at high enough quality that it's something awesome that can be posted on the official website, because I think competitive league play like this is something that would convince people to buy the game.)

Can observers see both sides' team chat?

Naw, team chat isn't viewable to observers, I don't think.

As far as quality, tec27 is handling the visuals. We're trying to figure out the best solution but Mogulus (the streaming service we're using) may have some limitations. We'll see. Glad to see you're excited!
