New players like balls :(
They keep doing balls. Its either balls or FFA.
Can't stand it. During free steam weekend, we had four full house 24player servers. Now we have 1 left. It seems the free weekend has been somewhat successful at bringing in quite a few new blood. Now I'm wondering,... how do you properly introduce TBD to a bunch of newbies who don't escort, or defend properly and keep bitching that TBD is long and boring. Also,... we have 5~6 servers with 14 player limits, but they are always empty due to new players preference of 24 player servers. I wonder who hosts these servers. they should be taken down. The maps are never meant for 12 players per side. |

I actually have seen a lot more game mode variety since the free weekend surge. I actually can occasionally get in some TDM and 1de now.
TBD must be a really rough transition to make, though. Most of the TBD servers are full of vets, so it's like the most punishing group ever + you're learning a new game mode that's a little slower / less action-oriented than what you're used to. I can see why people wouldn't stick around to learn how awesome it is. |

Planeball and FFA generally help people level up easier and faster. One word. Spam. TBD usually takes a longer time, and more effort to level up. That should explain that.

I would think TBD would be easier. Turrets give off plentiful XP to players having problems killing vets, and running the bomb is a good 30+ each.

Your Pro Though. So that is an exception.

ball is altitude's gateway drug. people will play tbd eventually too if they spend enough time in the game.

I kind of want Ace Instincts and Turbocharge swapped in the perk unlock order. My reasoning behind this is that it would be relatively easy for a new player to kill a vet if he killed turrets first netting him bars. Also, turbo is widely considered the best on many planes. Kinda off topic, but just my opinion for making new player's lives easier.

I only just started playing, I'm around level 35 I think, and I love ball. But I find TBD FAR more fun. I love escorting the bomb runner and clearing out turrets ect. I think its far more team orientated and that's so much more enjoyable!

lol, turbo is widely considered the best, and you want to help new players, so make them wait until level 60 to unlock it? What?

My logic is that you'd hurt the older players who just aced and can use Turbo to it's fullest potential. However, you could say the same about AI. Bridging a skill gap without lowering game depth is not easy at all. :x

I think ball would be okay if it didn't respawn everybody after each goal.
I just hate spawning, and 2 seconds later dropping out of the sky. We don't re-set players after a bomb hits a base either do we? FFA and TBD are continuous... and you stay alive as long as your skills let you. I like a good TBD with tactics and proper co-operation. the useless dropping for 2x multi kill has got to stop tho. |

Guilty as charged. I'm new, and like the ball game (can't bring myself to say "I like balls", sorry). Heck, I like them all except FFA. I only wish there was more teamwork at the level I'm at. The games I find remind me of high school soccer-- you know, when everyone runs at the ball and nobody plays positions. But hey, it's fun.

Are you sure? It's been impossible to play a decent TBD game since the steam free weekend, I can't seem to log into a server that's not full of rubber hull loopy noobs.

I joined on free weekend and I have to say that TBD was my favorite right from the start. Don't get me wrong, ball is fun sometimes, and 1-life tdm is great every once in a while too. But TBD is where I spend most of my time. I don't like playing on the nub servers either, I prefer stiff competition. I normally find myself in Official#1 or one of the New England servers. Some of us like being schooled by the best, King and |Silent Skies come to mind.
I prefer either Whale remote-mine defense, or Bi-plane offense. I'd like to think I've become rather good at it. If I see the bomb coming off screen and I have set up time, you WILL NOT get a hit. Usually Kilo_Alpha_Victor |

SkyTiger is referencing an unfortunate phenomenon which has been afflicting the Aussie Servers. I'm one of the people recruited via steam weekend, and ever since that ended it's been one never-ending XP-reduced 24 man cluster**** on ball-core
