Problem with my map
Hey guys, first of all I want to say that I'm new here so Hi
Anyways... After playing some hours of Altitude, I wanted to make a map. So I read a few tutorials and wiki pages, and made my own map. It's my first map, so it is probably very ****ty and stuff, so don't mind that. Now when I made this map I made the background in photoshop, and then inputted it into the map editor, and made spawnpoints etc. Then I made collision walls (invisible in-game). But when I run my map and play it, the collision walls don't work, and I can just fly right through all of them. I do collide with the turrets, base and ground, but not the sides and all other things. Has anyone got any idea of what I did wrong? Thanks in advance, ssankoo |

Hello.
Notice that you have the view editor up in that screen shot, and that you have three layers: background, game, and collision. Planes in Altitude operate on the 'game' view, and will only collide with things that are on the game view level; this is where the turrets and bases are. They will fly behind or in front of everything else. It sounds like your picture is in the background view, and therefore your planes fly in front of it, but don't collide with anything. If you can separate them, leave your brick wall background on the 'background view' level (so you planes can fly in front of it). Put the circles and the wall on the 'game view' level (so your planes will collide with them). There are other things I want to tell you/warn you of, but try this first... And good luck! Map making is fun. I've gotten much better with the feedback I've received here. |

Hey, thanks for you quick reply!
I copied all the collision sprites and pasted them in my game layer, and it worked! Thank you very much! I now exported the map, and what should I do next to make it playable? (not that anyone would :P) I also took out one item spawner becouse there were too many (still but that makes it more fun, I think) I may make a nice map later on when I have more time.. Thanks for the help, ssankoo Last edited by ssankoo; 06-06-2010 at 04:55 PM. |
