Here's a map idea with a castle layout.
![]() I've built it as a tdm (And just added the base for the screenshot), but what I'm really wishing for is a 'seige' game mode with players alternating between trying to attack or defend a single base within a certain amount of time. Two out of three rounds would win a match. This seriously came out of a desire to eliminate symetry that is prevalent on so many tbd maps (out of fairness, of course). I have biuilt a tbd map where only one base is 'bombable,' but it goes on forever until the base is destroyed and the attackers always win eventually (or the game goeas on forever). In any case, I haven't fleshed out the graphics yet. That's not my strong point. But the map is definitely fun for flying around. EDIT: Oh yeah - the defenders have only shield powerups and a one health powerup (above the base), which never despawns and is only usable by them. The attackers only get missles and one bomb. So basically a 1DE with respawns? Could be worth looking into, but the spawn times for the attackers and defenders would have to be different to be viable.

Sure - 1de with respawns. That's why a match timer would have to be involved. Although I imagined regular bombing instead of planting them.

You can always just put a bomb, then put the charge somewhere in an obstacle so no one can get it.

I would change this to a timed game, so the defenders have a chance at winning (That seems like it might be a server configuration, though). Otherwise, some people may not like being on the side that is doomed to lose from the start.

I think it's a good idea. I also wanted to tell that a time game would be better so the defense has a chance to win if they defend correctly during X minutes.
I don't know the size of the map, but I think it should be big to be viable (killing a rush of X planes with a bomb is not that quick)... |

make a map, which includes a bomb in the chamber of gold (or something like that) which the attackers have to reach while the defenders defend that, when they got the gold they have to take it back to their camp (say if it is red (defenders) vs blue (attackers) ) which is a red base. they have to drop the bomb on it to contain the gold. if the developers would think about such a game mode then there could be powerups, camps and other special needs for this mode created.
i suggest we call this game mode RB_### Robin Hood. ![]() |

I think you mean Siege instead of Seige, and I already had this idea but my concept failed.

I imagine it like this - multiple bombs approaching and flying from several directions. It should be fast, otherwise the risk of a long stagnation would be too great. To slow it back down add turrets as needed. It should almost have the pace of ball, but you need multiple "goals". There would be 2 rounds, whoever lasts longer wins.
I like the map, it has character. I would be in favor of a few more openings. I love epic far away precision bomb drops and subsequent plane blocks. |

Came across this searching the forums, would anyone want to play something like this if I made a couple maps and hosted a server?
Not suggesting this particular map would work, but I think the concept could be successful. |

Potential candidate to match tbd or 1bd as how fun they are to play, unlike ball.
Although I'm aware the map in the op is only a concept, I feel like an actual map would have to be rather big, perhaps something like a huge fort. Searching for some design ideas, I came across a layer based fort-like design, so for example, each layer would have a set of turrets across it, going forth to the next layer with fewer turrets but hitting harder and so on until reaching the base. I wouldn't make too many layers, perhaps put a set of turrets outside the fort and have only two layers to get through or even one huge layer on inside would be okay. Of course, the map would ideally need a few routes to let the defending/pushing happen. Looking at the other posts, it seems the original concept would have the attacking team shove a billions at any time because they never mention how often bombs would respawn, then maybe, have two bombs spawn for the attacking team with at least 40-60s spawn timer. This is mainly why I suggested a layer-like map with a bunch of turrets, earning a way through would have to be essential because nuking the whole team with one bomb and letting the other one get through is no fun. There may be a lot of flaws in all I said but I'm writing as I'm walking my way home from school ![]() |

There are a couple more. Maybe I will throw these on a server and see if anyone play them. Some are on the LTTD server but probably needs its own server and one not in Australia. If the mode was popular it would be easy to create a large number of maps very quickly modifying existing maps like I did for 1DE. |
