New poll attached to this thread. I would like to see if LA is the ideal spot for Ball Dojo #2. If you have an interest in playing on Ball Dojo #2, please take a couple minutes to help us find the lowest ping for you.

Please sort the Altitude server list by 'name' and find the Jestservers.com servers. Check your pings to the different server locations and come back here and submit your vote.

I can see issues with Ping problems when hosting your own servers, other than that would there be any other reason to pay for hosting? Also how much would hosting for Ball Dojo #2 cost?

Ping is rather important. You also get high speed downloads for custom maps, 99.9% uptime, prompt tech support, etc. It's hard to make a server popular if it's often not up when you want to play, laggy and has slow downloads.

Data centers have a lot of redundancy in connectivity and hardware, so it's usually much more reliable than doing it from home.

Prices vary on hosting. I get mine from www.jestservers.com. Pricing is listed on their site.

Krawz is not the primary admin on Dojo II (or Dojo I for that matter anymore). Dojo II is run by CmDrNoval, approved by <T>Jazz, who is the main admin for Ball Dojo.

Well that's not really relevant but I'm assuming the actual problem was addressed.
