Default Sky League 2 Qualification Tournament

The All World 2nd Sky league Ball World Cup (Qualification Tourney)

Game type: Ball
Game Size: 6v6
Sign Ups Close: 16th July
Tourney Starts: 17th July, 6pm GMT/Altitude time
Format: 3 Maps, order is predetermined. It will be a BO3 for each round with a BO5 end.
[SIZE="3"]Head Admin: CCN
Admins: Wok3n, Kuja, Radium;
Servers: FFL - Password: ffl

Teams:
2G4U2
Ball
Tv0
AH
Ice
BL
Lobstar Sammich
arr
Twisted

This is mandatory for teams who did not play in last Skyleague but with to play in the next one.
Who here is ready to take on the defending champions Arr? challenge the oncoming storm that was 2G4U, who overcame a winless start to have a shot in the very last games? Do you dare face the team who lead the entire league but at a last gasp but got it torn away? Tv0, who will be out looking for blood. How about challenging the very first ball clan, ball? Who after coming in last have reinvigorated their lineup with old players coming back and new talent, ready to prove the power of an old name. New competitors rise up, old faces re-emerge, good games are had, but in the end, THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE

Rules:
Misc:
1.1 A team with less then 5 participants is considered a forfeit unless the other team agrees to play on (6v5 etc)
1.1.7 Any and all scrims, friendly and otherwise must be approved by Skyleague for the duration of the tourney.
1.2 Each map is to 6 goals
1.3 There is no time limit for each map
1.4 Screen shots must be taken at the ending screen and produced upon request
1.5 Each week the games schedule at 6pm GMT on the Saturday.
1.6 Bannings from league/server will only come from actions within server/league play.
1.7 I am currently lacking admin powers on the FFL servers, thus it is expected new teams will listen to me and other admins quickly. The equivalent of a ban will be a 1 week suspension from playing for your team.
1.8 If a game goes to 5v6, the game will be played at 5v6 (or 5v5 at the other teams discretion) until a goal is scored. After a goal is scored no one will spawn and a new 6th for the opposing team may be chosen, however that is at the discretion of the opponents. If it is not agreed upon play with continue at 5v5 or 5v6. As an addenuem teams are reccomended to put 7 players in the start tourney, and preagree to this. Once a player is subbed out he can not be subbed back in.
1.9 My rulings, CCN, are final. The buck stops here.

2.1 5 Minutes past match time if a team has not organized it is a forfeit.

While I'm excitingly claping my hands over this announcement and typing this message with my feet, I have a question.
Are the rules subject to change ? Because they seem the exact same as the last Sky League and I think they could use a few improvements. Maps choice, euro server, bo5 anyone ?

bo5 sounds cool to me but i dont really like the other ideas. letting people schedule their own games does not work. you need to tell teams (at least the nooby ones) what to do or they will dick it up (see: street-ballaz tourney).
i also would not trust people to pick their own maps. It will inevitably lead to the same 3-5 maps being played every round, which is kind of lame imo.
last, while yeah, it does suck that you have to play with lag all the time, it didnt hurt your results much last tourney . not all lag effects are bad, and i think it evens out in the end tbh. Even if that's incorrect, it might be bc I dont play with lag often, there is still the issue of azn and aussie players. Players like CCN get enough crap about their pings in US servers, and Euro servers are another problem all together.

I have no issues with european servers, if they are of the quality of {arr} servers or better (~100 ping average for east coast)

euro server=200-300+ ping for Asia, Aussie, and westcoast US while a east coast server only give 100-150ish for euros and keeps it much lower for asia and such so honestly good east coast servers are the best way to go. Thats how its always been and has worked fine for all the other tourneys. now with an exception like last skyleague if BOTH capts decide they would like to play on a euro server (such as a [test]v{arr} match where both teams are majority euro) thats fine but all matches where both dont want to play euro should be played on normal servers.

No doubt. While euro players will say "boo-hoo we deal with it all the time," that is just it. Throwing a player who always has <50 ping into a tournament game with 150+ ping is a huge adjustment.

Qualification tourney, any wanted rule changes should come to me through PM.
For your current suggestions.

A) Map pool will be talked about with upstanding members but it will be set before each round.
B) Home and Away screws every asian.
C)This is a one day Qualification tourney for the real thing I can forsee Bo5's

Also, the time of matches will be decided, every week the first match will always be 6pm GMT, and others schedules after that.

So wait, the teams from the first SkyLeague are allowed to participate, but don't have to, in order to participate in SkyLeague 2?

I guess we are in.

This is a qualification tourney for bragging rights and to make sure new teams who say they can field a team, can.

After this tourney the real league will start very quickly, with any teams registered here auto ining.

The 4 teams from last league I will contact to see if they want to join (If they didn't join here)

i think because arr, tvo, ball (kind of), and 2g4u were the only teams who bothered to show up each week, they want a preliminary tourney to see if teams can actually show

If this is a simple bo3 knock out competition, will the 4 previous skyleague clans be "seeded" in anyway, or will the draws be completely random?

what does that mean? 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 week at 6pm GMT & 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 depends on both side's decision?

not maps ppl like, maps teams have a competitive advantage on. and in a bo3 format, that means the same 3 maps every round... all im sayin is that we have more than 3 good and likeable maps-- we should use them.

I'm not going to answer for ccn, but I will say this: it's a _qualifying_ tournament. You literally have to show up to win. A discussion of maps for SL2 might be useful, but this (show up = qualify) is really just a formality.

Qualifying tournament or not, you've got to admit it this kind of anwer doesn't really promote further discussion either, does it ? On top of that, I would go as far as saying that this "qualifying" setup might be a perfect opportunity to test it and see how it plays out, but hey, whatever. Discussions, pretty cool stuff.
