Default Fun Editor Features To Consider

I had a good idea for a feature to add to the editor. How about adding a feature so you can make a plane that would follow a set path and fire when it reached certain parts. Then you could have images move to on a set path so you have to dodge falling rocks for instance.
destructive scenery would be great to but I know it would be difficult to make.
but i think it would be fun so you could make an airport and have planes take off and randomly fire and boost. They would be like the players planes but not controlled by anyone but the course. So you could shoot them down and they would respawn after a time you get to choose. Then if they hit a wall they would explode like we do if we hit one. If this feature is added I will make an airport type course that would have about 10 planes in the air that would fly around and you could shoot them down. then perhaps letting you choose their color and health, attack power, etc. maybe a feature to make it follow the closest player. then also make it be able to drop powerups then a supply plane could fly over the top and drop a little box, then when the box would go for a set time and break, then inside would be a powerup. Someone could shoot down the supply plane but it would have more health to make it tricky.

at least they wouldn't lag.

a bomber or 2 assisting in a tbd would be a fun added extra, especially if these things are essentially like mobile turrets, as would falling rocks or whatever. I think your other idea's r a little extreme though, some of them involve actual AI (hence an entire bot like normal, rather than a scripted path as first suggested) and the idea of 10 automated planes flying around seems a bit much.

It would be alot of work, to the maps and to the game itself for them to do it though. personally I think some scriptable objects would be neat, and could introduce a new game type 'scenario' as opposed to a usual tbd or ffa, but I worry if the creators will deem it worth the effort. Also note that I'd hate to see every map use these features, it could easily becom over-used (unless restrained to a certain gametype for instance)

P.S: This belongs in the suggestions forum

@lamster: Do you think you could create movable sprites from a modified version of the power-up script?

Just plot a path for the sprite and have it "refresh" along that path. You could input the how long you want the sprite to take to get from start to finish and an optimized formula (e.g. time/(distance * maximum pixels at which motion is fluid)= # of refresh points) could plot the required number of points on the path.

I'd like to add moving objects to the map editor, but no guarantees it will ever actually get done -- there's so much stuff above it on the TODO list.
