Zeppelin Bases and/or VIP objectives
We could use Lead Zeppelins.
There would be two uses, 1. A movable base in large maps, and 2. a slow moving VIP escort that either one or both teams trying to protect. 1. For maps where it was a slow moving base it would provide some interesting mix ups in the action. 1. Technicalities For how they would technically work, they would be heavily armored, turreted warship that moved along a set "track" in circle around the map. Each team would have one zeppelin, and they'd be on the same "track", just 50% of the distance of the "track" apart. Also, Spawn points would most likely move based on where the Zeppelins were. For programming purposes, there may be 10 or so set spawn points that both teams used based on where the Zeppelins were on the "track." If your Zeppelin was between 0% and 9% of the track, you'd spawn at spawn point 1, for 10-19% you'd spawn at spawnpoint 2. -Note, One Set Spawn point per team could work, it would need user testing to find out. Would change from map to map 1. Changes in gameplay - Role switching At first you might yell IMBALANCED! at the thought of Zeppelins moving in a circle. Seeing that moving in a circle implies one having a higher altitude (and higher spawn points) then another, whoever had the higher spawn points would have a much easier time assaulting the lower spawn points Zeppelin. In my book, this is a good thing, it makes the field of battle constantly change as you switch roles from offensive to defense. Also, based on where the Zeppelins are, you would frequently be switching routes of attack and defense. Also, by having a moving base, it should be more convenient to attack, and may make attacking a base have a higher more fun priority. 1. Changes in level design Maps would most likely be bigger, though one or two highely dense maps would be extremely popular. Would support smaller planes (based on screen size) and on the biggest of maps, much much more people. Also, to make it much more interesting, additional physics could be added. These physics will be discussed in another post but they consist of things like: Updrafts (In glider games it makes you go higher... keeping a "little" realism though, would it effect planes?), Thunder clouds (EMP'd while in them, but also make you invisible?), Landing pads - on top of Zeppelin - for healing (and possibly a 25% honorary hp boost if you've killed 2 other planes since spawning, capped at 25% or 50% though). 1. Call friggen GoodYear (tires) Get sponsorship, even if it's $200 for the fist four months of post beta (Do NOT make indefinite as it ruins potential future income). Put their name on the side of every Zeppelin. This will be I think acceptable by gamers and hilarious product placement. |

2.VIP/3.CTF
2. Vip basics Escort a (possibly un-turreted) Zeppelin from point A to B along a set track. Score points for every successful transfer! One or both teams could actively be pursing this goal. Easy level design, make a map like lostcity, and add a track for the Zeppelins to follow from A-B and B-A. Possibly make two tracks, but make them almost identical- and yes, they to make it more balanced at one or more points the Zeppelins could potentially fly through each other. In a simultaneous VIP escort map (both teams are trying to complete at same time) you could need say, 5 escorts, to win a map. Variables to consider are Respawn time of Zeppelins - instant after death, X sesconds after death, can respawn every 30 seconds after map start, or Respawns every time a non-dead one could have made it to the other side. In the last case mentioned, I would both teams Zeppelins should respawn simultaneously... In one team at a time maps, It would work Like Assualt in Unreal tournament and the maps would have no need to be mirrored, one team would defend on the right, and another assaults from the left. Teams switch side after a succeful capture (or fail after 8..... minutes?) Whoever gets the zeppelin to the other side faster wins. Variables to consider are - does the Zeppelin get checkpoints to respawn closer if destroyed?... ----- 3. CTF Basics If CTF is implemented in any other mode, you could have a giant Flag easily mounted on top of your moving Zeppelin that just requires a fly over to pick up. Take to your Zeppelin to score. To go along with Goodyear advertising you could have a rope hanging down from the zeppelin attached to swinging platform filled with tires (possibly monster truck tires ^_^). Capture 4 tires to win the map. Upon winning a cute little anime monster truck drives across the scoreboard kicking up dirt everywhere doing wheelies and jumping peoples names off ramps..... I was thinking something along the lines of zepplin bases or warship bases the other day too.
Think it would be great if someone could control the bases movement and turrets. Sort of the point and shoot method of 'defend the city' sort of games. Give the Baseship player a full view of the map to see all enemy movements and be a commander of sorts. |

You do have a pretty good point. The whole game does have a anime like look. Having in-game advertising like the good year blimp would be pretty cool if we could blow it up. Perhaps as much health as a base and drop 6 powerups or something. The main reason it would be a great idea is Altitude would not die. If they had funding the game would last but how long can it last without? Also I do think if they sold shirts, mugs, hats, etc and made a really cool picture it would help them with money problems!
