Default New Map Questions

HI!

Well, I've been playing Altitude for 342 days and I wanted to finish a map on my 1st Alty birthday. With the new Coop thing going around, I'm gonna make 1 of those.
BUT. . .
I have a couple questions.
  1. Is Gimp a good program?
  2. What's the turret limit?
  3. Is there a Gimp tutorial somewhere hovering around?

I'm glad you're going to make a map. I spend more time making maps than playing.

GIMP is an excellent program. I simply upgraded to adobe PhotoShop, but still go back once in a while for specific things.

I don't believe there is a current limit on the number of turrets (there may be, but it's a lot in any case).

I believe the page you get GImP from also has tutorials that are web based. check it out.

Gimp is a GREAT free program (it is actually arguably just as good as PS) I like Ps more after I upgraded but gimp is Great!

Yes I have run into a limit on turrets but it is I think 100 something so it's a lot.

Yeah tons of gimp tuts, on youtube. here are some good channels.

last time i checked there was a turret limit of 63
that was like 2 months ago though, they might have changed it

Maybe you'll get something out of how I made 1de_coop_cavern. I first made the map in photoshop in different layers (Gimp can do this too right?) just like you are gonna use them in the map editor
then extract the layers to 3 pictures (unless you want to have moving backgrounds and crap, but I'm not helping you with that ); the background, the front and the overlay (I dunno, water or plants hanging over planes etc). You can import those images in a map that has the right size and it will generate the collision on its own if you did the transparency right.

Hopefully this'll be of use to you.

Btw, there's something funky going on with the turrets, make sure to place them in a good layer so you can see the health.
