i beg you
make a seperate bar+button for boost.

I think having it suck ammo energy is intended as a balancing mechanism (no biplanes boosting to point blank range, then unloading a full ammo bar's worth of dual-fire into an enemy plane).
As far as seperate button, I don't really care either way. I'd probably stick to using up-throttle (assuming they let you define what button boosts). |

Yeah, same bar is good. Weighing pros/cons of using boost or shooting during the game is a good element to have and actually makes dogfighting a little more interesting than in the original.
I've grown to like boost being on the up arrow but I can definitely see wanting to bind it to a different key. An option would be cool. |

Another vote for separate button / still uses ammo
Or Might it make sense to make it not use ammo, but make it the same button as powerups, so that you can't boost when you're holding one? Or BOTH use ammo and be powerup button, but make the boost more powerful? |

i think seperate button, still uses ammo is a good compromise.
and we should still be able to use it with a powerup, though. |

Perhaps we could have a separate fuel for the boost. That or it just uses less of the ammo/energy bar so you can still attack once after boosting then it refills completely.

I'm definitely against a separate button... new players already struggle a lot with the controls, and adding more complexity there would be a bad thing I think.
But it's definitely not quite perfect. I think I already mentioned this to Lam, but I'd like to try it so that it only activates if you're ALREADY at full throttle. It might be counterintuitive and crappy, but it's worth a shot imo. So like if you're throttling up, you can keep holding the up arrow and you won't activate burners. But if you let go and then press down again, it'll activate. And I know Lamsbro advocates double-pressing, which would solve the problem. Sounds kind of cumbersome to me, but is also worth trying at least I think. |

default boost = up arrow
just give players option to redefine which key they want it on. it's like I'm some sort of GENIUS |

I'm going to be pretty new when I return, and I think having a separate boost button would make things a lot easier. =P I wouldn't have to worry about what the up button would do or whether or not I'm pressing it too long; I just press up and go faster. Same with the boost button.
