The Official Guide to XGames flying (flexi+reverse)
As far as I know, there are very few people out there who fly XGames (red perk + flexi + reverse thrust). It obviously seems very nooby, and it is nooby, but it can still be quite fun at times and add a new challenge to flying, bombing, balling, etc.
The original XGames red perk (as far as I know) is tracker loopy with the XGames perks. I started playing this set up early last fall, but there may be vets who have been played it since before I joined altitude. If you are one of those people, feel free to say so. As I was saying earlier, XGames is quite obviously quite nooby, but it is fun and can be used to juke out other players and (if you are really good at it) maneuver around getting kills without having to stay in the fray for too long. It can also be good for long bombs on maps like heights and others where it's pretty easy to lob. Using the XGames set up on remote mine can be very useful in 2 ways as well. With the remote-XGames set up, one can reverse thrust right into the fray, lay down a mine and explode it very quickly, knocking players away, or, in the right situation, knocking them into walls before they have time to react. The second use of the remote-XGames setup is version of mine-hopping in which one would lay down a mine, but instead of going forward into it, a fatty would reverse thrust into it and then let go of the bomb. This tactic is really hard to do because of the uncontrollableness of the XGames set up, and usually the bombs don't go as far. The upside, however, is that if a fatty is going toward the base with reverse thrust, it can lay down a mine and then go straight into it (although this would probably fail more times than it succeedsl) instead of laying a mine down and then doing a 180 (like you have to do with mine-hopping). Overall, XGames is really hard to use and in most cases not worth it because it's so easy to crash into walls. It does add a new level of difficulty and a new challenge to most aspects of the game, though. Unfortunately, this is perk combination is one that few people use and few people try out, and it is usually scorned upon. It is unlikely that XGames will ever become a commonly used setup, because of its uselessness in pro and ladder games, but I still hope that from reading this more people will try it out. Here is a demo of me using XGames-tracker loopy (sorry for the bad quality; my computer is pretty old): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5XZpe0IEHk Here is a video of me playing the XGames-remote setup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNkplmIkXns I will probably add videos of the XGames setup with other red perks if people show interest in this guide Also try to keep the hate comments to a minimum; if you don't like this idea keep in mind that 1: There are people who do, 2: You don't have to read it and play the setup, and 3: This isn't super-serious or anything |

Most of the time if you're playing crazy reverse whale, repair is much more useful than extra flexi wings. The reverse perk gives me all the extra turning I need anyways.

Where did this X-Games phrase come from
I thought this was just rev, it just happens to be most prominently useful on Biplane and less so on the other planes |

The X-Games are American games in which human beings do crazy tricks in sporting events not unlike the loopy video that grave showed.

why the f do you call this xgames flying? flying with flex + rev is not a new thing nor does it warrant such an obnoxious name. UNLESS... it's describing the way you fly... EXTREME!!!

This didn't seem like much of a guide to me. More of a description of a setup maybe?

Am I the only person who thinks the HC+Flexi+Rev can actually kill anything it meets? I don't think this setup of <red perk>+Flexi+Rev is noobish; Just add some videos of Beagle in action, and that's all you need...
Not to mention, TA+Flexi+Rev can be one of the most trickiest planes to kill in the whole game? |
