Default You have seen <name> go by these names...

Hi there,

I know that this topic has been discussed before but for whatever reason I can't seem to find the related thread. Sorry if the topic has been commonly regarded as closed, fixed, etc.

Recently I've had the impression that a wave of "I need to change my name at least once per day" urged lots of players to do exactly that: change their names all the times, resulting in a cluttered friends list of mine. Now I have no way of finding out who a player is except talk to them, and I'm already weary of that. The suggestion in the old thread was to provide some sort of mechanism to see the names of players that they've used so far, like in Steam's "You have seen <name> go by these names...".

Is this totally superfluous or are there any technical reasons that speak against this feature? From my whining you can tell that I'd really love to see this implemented.

click the vapor ID, and it will show you all the names ever used by that specific vapor ID (providing that someone that uploads their altbouncer config files sees that player in game)

Very nice. So the only drawback is that ppl have to upload their files.

Yeah it's not always 100% up to date, but if the name doesn't come up, check back in a day or so or upload your file and you should be set.

a while back i suggested that if someone changes name when your logged off or not in a game with them, it would tell you next time you logged on. like:
your not online.
loser123 chanages his name to produde321 wile your offline
nesxt time you log on it says (in the frendslist window)
'loser123 has changed his name to produde321'
so you know. then you dont have to wait and open altbouncer etc...

If you misplace the URL, just remember to google "AltBouncer." Also, if someone is on your friends' list, their new name won't show up in AltBouncer (at least this seems to be the case for me). Even so, it's very useful.

I think that happens because it pulls from your "Most Recently Played With" list or whatever it's called, and your friends aren't put in that list.
