Rule Proposition: Forced Spec
I would like to suggest an addendum to the ladder rules. In my opinion, mods should have the power to force spec players with the /assign command when teams are numerically unbalanced. If a team refuses to spec a player when a player on the opposing team dcs after some arbitrary amount of time (20 seconds?) then a mod is allowed to choose a player he feels is least integral to the team (not a whale or bomb runner etc) to send to the spectator box. Thoughts?

I like the idea, but I would take it a step further and let the mod choose any player regardless of how useful they are. This would encourage teams to sit a player immediately and play fair or risk losing their best whale, etc...

Yeah that was my thought initially that the team should be punished for not being able to spec somebody on their own, I do sort of prefer that variation.

id have the time limit set to 10 seconds, it is really annoying when they are all circling in your base whilst discussing who has to sit.

I never understand why there's so much discussion. There's usually one clear weak link in 99% of ladder games. >.>

1) If a player is forced to spec, what happens when the player that disconnected comes back - will the admin have to forcefully put the spectator back on the team, or what?
And if there isn't something to keep the player from joining again after he's been specced, he can just join again and again and again. I think it would be easier to simply deal with a loss, then to implement this idea. Hope that makes sense. |

If one rejoins after being manually specced hes guilty of a ladder rule infraction and receives a temp ban.

as long as the mod isn't on the other team and "randomly" picks the best player

i like how kuja nvr specs in 5v4 situations because of his self-inflated view of his worth to the team

Bad idea.
Case in point. Yesterday, someone dropped out, so the other team pressured the player with the least kills to sit. However, the person with the least kills was the only one who'd bombed the base. Logically, he can be seen to be more valuable to the team than the person with the next-fewest kills. But of course, there's nothing on the score screen that tallys bomb hits/saves, or any other pertinent information. (If you're still following the story, the guy refused to sit, and everyone raged at him, cos most people who play ladder now are so wrapped up in their ladder rankings that they're massive jerks to anyone and anything that might make them loose points. True fact.) |

I never said the person with the least kills would be subbed its blatent 99% of the time who the best choice would be.

Or you can all give nobo 9000 dollars to create a function that would auto spec (and keep him specced) the player with the lowest rating of the team within 10 - 15 seconds of someone leaving on the other team.
It's possible. You can h8 me now nobo. |
