What is the point of the bomb in 1dm?!?!?!

Ok, so this has been bugging me ever since i first played 1dm. What is the point of that bomb thing? It doesn't do anything! Is it just there as a joke to mess with us and make me go insane trying to figure it out or is does it actually a purpose? If anyone actually knows what the purpose of the bomb please tell me.

I've been told that it is used in a different game mode (1de), where you plant that charge. I assume the maps with those charges in 1dm are simply used in 1dm and 1de.

so they just got lazy and left the charge bomb in there for no reason?

the game mode is created by its non use.... old maps have it still on the map, newer ones take it off the map completeley

The demolition charge in some maps is left over from the beta of a game mode in which the plane with the most girth at the end wins. Don't judge.
