Default Spec Chat Rule is Silly

I honestly don't see the point of a spec chat rule when the game has a built in mute feature. The game has its own filter and mute to tune out anything that is distracting you and that you do not want to hear. Also this is a bit of a side note but there is a problem with people who are muted telling people to spec chat not realizing they are being told to spec chat and getting in trouble with mods.

This rule was intended for srs business games like league matches and was simply ported over. However, Ladder chat is usually vets just goofing off having a good time until someone says something they don't like, perhaps even jokingly (Like "PRESS S!") and they fall back on this. This rule is almost never used as intended and is incredibly prone to abuse.

I vote we allow spec chat on the ladder game servers except for Kuja, who must remain silent.

I agree to this. As long as there is no spam, spec chat should be allowed because of the mute feature. I think however the best option would be for the game to have a "turn off spec chat" feature for those players who are playing the game. They would only be able to see server messages just in case if an admin needed to tell a player something. This would get rid of the problem in its entirety.

why do you need to general chat so badly? The point of ladder servers is the matches, just shut up for a bit if someone asks you to. Im not going to /mute 4 people mid match because they're distracting me, it's much easier just to ask them to be quiet.

The benefits that come from the rule are numerous, but eliminating the rule doesn't really help anything except for that one situation kuj mentioned where a muted player asks someone to specchat.

Personally I find there are many instances where I want to talk to one player or something but I'm going to annoy others. If there was that mute spectator thing that was suggested by woken that would be great - especially cause it's so lame to kick someone for simply saying hi or saying "NICE"...
