Default Altitude on the Mac App Store?

So I watched yesterday's Apple keynote where Steve jobs unveils the new Mac App Store!
Do you think Altitude is going to be available for sale in there as it is on Steam right now? I think it would get the game to be more popular! Also, what do you think of the M.A.S. in general?

dem

inb4 people start saying Pc > mac

don't really see what the actual difference is between the MAS and the apps that are already downloadable from apple.com, but hey... seems like a great way to drive publicity to stuff.

the difference is accessibility. Altitude was literally the only game I've ever downloaded on apple.com - it was a great coincidence I found it. App Store (and possibly MAS as well) is an easy to use tool - all you need to do is to have iTunes on and make 1 click. If the game's well rated it'll be way easier to find for random users.

Maybe I'm completely missing something - but I'm pretty sure the app store is for ipad/iphone/ipod touch apps. These apps are ones written in objective c and are already on those products. Altitude was not written in objective c - nor is it easy to translate it to that. Altitude could not simply be placed in the app store - it's not like steam.

The apps available for download at apple.com are usually not written in objective c - and are usually designed for computers rather than small products like those I previously mentioned. (i.e. they couldn't be placed into the app store).

Hopefully that clears it up a little bit

the thing is I don't know what kind of downloads will be available in the MacAppStore - as far as I understand, it's about "normally" programmed stuff (not the ipod/phone etc ones).

While the original apple.com/downloads section was huge for Altitude, and MAS would be an awesome platform to promote Altitude to more Mac users, it looks like we won't have that opportunity:

"Apps that use deprecated or optionally installed technologies (e.g., Java, [PowerPC code requiring] Rosetta) will be rejected"

(Note: they announced the "deprecation" of Java on OS X alongside the Mac App Store announcement)

Unfortunately it appears the iOS/Android war has spilled over onto desktops.

inb4 Mac OS that doesn't support Java or Flash (iPhone OS for desktops/macbooks)

Then we'll see who are the ones with common sense and who are the blind apple fanboys.

IT could be good, all goodness for sales aside, I really hate Apple. DRM'd to the max. Makes impossible to do real things.

A good looking computer with a sleek interface. However the enterprise behind it is manipulating you with no shame.

If I were you I'd wait until Lion came out!

In Snow Leopard you don't have to pay anything extra to screen record

Yeah that looked pretty useful and they changed that horrible quicktime icon.

Well I was thinking of getting Lion anyways but since it's 30 'ros, let's go for it I guess.
