Alti keeps minimizing
Heya.
Lately my altitude has started to minimize as soon as I start the program. Whenever I reopen alti, it stays up for about a second and then minimizes again. I need to repeate this for about 5-8 times for it to stay opened. This happens with the steam and the browser edition. -J EDIT: Pardon my lazyness back in December. I forgot to reply back then when I figured out how to fix this. The minimizing stopped when I did the following: -ran the game in XP sp3 compability mode -disabled visual themes -disabled desktop composition Sorry for inconvenience, -J Last edited by JWhatever; 02-01-2011 at 11:08 PM. |

Please update to the latest video drivers directly from your manufacturer (e.g. ati.com, nvidia.com, or intel.com -- Windows Update does not provide suitable OpenGL drivers). If that doesn't work please try the test version from http://nimblygames.com/test/altitude.exe and let me know if that version works.

So.
Firstly I verified the files (I use steam version). It redownloaded 2. No positive effect. Then I updated my GPU drivers. On the first run alti gave me a message that I should update my GPU and it started to browse my setup. I cancelled it and restarted alti, worked fine. Then I closed the game and restarted. This time it minimized. Then I installed the the version you linked, first run was just fine, second and third gave me the minimize effect. I'm using nvidia GTX 260M. I've been playing for about 11 months and during this time Alti has worked fine. The problem appeared for the first time around last week. -J |

Have you installed any other software recently? Another program could be attempting to show notifications of some sort, triggering the minimization. Have you tried windowed mode? You can change to a high resolution (to fill the whole screen) under Options -> Graphics.

The only program that I've installed right before the problem occured (according to control panel) is an update for Mozilla Firefox.
...altho I did make a .bat file which I use to kill some processes. Basicly it contains taskkill /f /im processname.exe times something. This would force kill the processes I've included in the list. Could this have corrupted something? Also I have no programs running in the backround that would give any visible notifications. Eg I've got only my volume control, battery life and avast quick icons in that taskbar or whatever it's called. -J |

Update:
I tested with the browser edition. Works fine. I tested straight after both the steam version and the one you linked. I had the same programs running in the bacround. These still minimize. -J Edit: browser started minimizing aswell but it requiers less tries to get it stable than the other 2 Last edited by JWhatever; 11-11-2010 at 05:30 PM. |

New stuff:
The problem happens with open gl games. I tried worms: reloaded and Warcraft III and this happened with those games as well. Direct X games work fine. -J |

You'll probably continue to experience issues until new drivers are available for your video card.
Have you tried windowed mode? Press F3 to toggle. If windowed mode works you can edit ~Altitude/config/options.xml, change undecorated=true, then in game choose the highest available resolution under Options -> Graphics for a "windowed fullscreen" experience. |

Heya, little update:
After the patch wave the interval between maximizing and minimizing has increased by a second or so. I havn't tried the windowed mode yet as the native resolution on my laptops screen is horrid (1366 x 768). In windowed the game gets blurry and not enjoyable to play. -J |

Please try the following changes in ~Altitude/config/options.xml:
fullscreen="false" windowedResolution="1366,768" undecorated="true" |
