Default award suggestions

Just random ideas:

House Builder- used 10+ walls in one game
Cross-eyed- picked up 10+ bombs in one game and hit the base with <10%
Worst Ally ever- 5+ health pickups while at full health
Fugly- This reward always goes to King, even if he's not in the game
Newbie Basher- 3:1 K/D ratio
Your Team Sucks- Lose a game in less than 5 minutes
Fire the "Laser"- 3 or more multikill in Miranda
Glutton for punishment- recieve 5K or more in damage
Kill borrower- 20+ kill steals
Kill lender-15+ robbed kills

#'s are basically random.

I realize there's a limited amount of space on the screen so I figured we could remove a few of the awards (KS/robbed/damage recieved, etc), and just have like 4-6 open slots. If someone meets the above conditions, they'll show up.

Then just have a heirarchy based on difficulty. So like, say there are 4 open award slots. But 10 awards have been reached.... something like NewbieBasher would take priority over House Builder. Basically, the Goldeneye award system.

Could take it a step further and make it into a medal (read: cookie) system where if they meet certain requirements, they'll show up.... somewhere... like a profile or something.

These ideas are lol and win. It would be fun if there were a whole bunch of random awards like this and they were awarded left and right after battles. =D The top four awards clause is a good idea, too, though, so a bunch of worthless awards would never show up anyway, so maybe not =P

Do a barrel roll - rotate your plane more than 10,000 degrees in one lifespan.
Landing is in now - suicide in the vicinity of the base 5+ times in one game
Bot - time spent dead exceeds time spent alive
Blank - use more than 20 powerups in one life
Snowsickle - 5+ suicides with bomb or 5+ bomb kills in one life
Ferret - make more than 5 mother jokes in one game

how do you guys feel about achievements (like in TF2) or challenges (like COD4)?

that's kind of where I was going with this, except it wouldn't unlock anything (except like I said, maybe medals at a later date, or if you allow custom colors or some ****).

Well those awards would show up if no one managed to meet any other awards (I'm thinking mostly in smaller/faster games like 1on1/2on2). Plus if they're tracked like in an award/medal system, you'd still get credit for them, they just wouldn't appear on the score sheet at the end.



Some more ideas:

Best Snoopy Impersonator- get 4+ kill streak 4 seperate times with Loopy
Likes It From Behind- Die to an explodet or bomber 20 times
No Fat Chicks- Kill an explodet or bomber (or combination of the two) 3 times in a row
Could You Repeat That?- Die 2+ times while the text box is open
Bullseye!- Blow yourself up with your own homing missile 3+ times
Red Baron- Get a 10+ kill streak and a 2:1 K/D ratio
Played the game for 15 hours a day- Be 1st in 4 of the stat awards (most deadly, kill streak, longest life, etc)
Crash Test Dummy- 5+ suicides
Maybe You Should Pick A Plane?- Go random an entire game and have a .5:1 K/D ratio
One Track Mind- get 20+ kills using only primary fire an entire game
Slow and Steady- Go an entire game without boosting

speaking of awards, are the stars going to come back? I liked the little bonus of 5 stars, though picking up the deads items and health is already a bonus i suppose.

Maybe give the mvp of the last game some bonus as well.

We don't need a bajillion awards, there's only so much screen space and the awards are displayed for only so long. I think the basic ones we have/had are fine. I guess it could work if only some of these special awards showed up, but I don't see much of a point.

I'm pretty sure by this point we've gone from "awards" to "permanent trophies/tf2esque achievements" which are tied to the account so screen space isn't an issue.

I really hope this gets implemented. Some of them could be somewhat difficult and give people a goal to work towards - it worked very well in Valve's portal. Simple game, simple to get through, but getting all of the achievements was bitchy enough that it was fun to work for.

Achievements are great, but honestly they lose a lot of appeal for me when the achievement system doesn't span multiple games. For me the real awesomeness is being able to compare various stuff you've done in various games.

But maybe I'm alone. I dunno. Can't hurt to have them I guess, but I think Lam's already working hard and I'd rather have the game sooner than add unnecessary features later on.
