The Altitude Draft

Admins:

Format:
Multi-mode! 5v5 TBD; 6v6 Ball; 5v5 TDM

The matches are a bo3. Instead of giving 5 specific maps, I will post 5 maps all with different game modes - 2 TBD; 2 Ball; 1 TDM.

Each team can than veto 1 of the maps until you have decided which map and mode to play. Yes, this is a multimode tournament!

This is slightly confusing so this is an example:
Map Pool: tbd_asteroids, tbd_cave, ball_core, ball_grotto, tdm_cave
The 2 teams must then veto down the maps (just like in APL) and select which maps to play first. It is garunteed that in each match you will play at least two of the modes but you may have to play all 5.

Keep in mind, if you sign up, you must play for the team that you are selected by and you must attend the match.

Schedule:
The start date is a little tentative, because it this cannot begin until we have 56 players and 8 captains signed up. It will start around mid-January though.

I want to make the tournament last for about 1 month, but teams will not be playing all that often. You will have a maximum of 2 matches a day and some days you may not have a match at all.

We will split the teams into two groups. The first 4 captain will play in Group 1 and the last 4 captains will play in Group 2.

Week 1: Group Stages
The teams in each group will play each other once in week 1, in a bo3. The loosing team picks the next map.
Team will be awarded 3 points for a match win and 1 point for a 1-2 match loss. Be aware that even though you win 2-1, the score will be displayed as 3-1 for points reasons. The teams will then be places in ranking by points, within their group.

I know that the schedule looks strange but it will make much more sense when I replace these seeds with Captain names.

CCN check it out: This will be the first ever tournament in the history of Altitude that tests you in all aspects of the game. You have to have a well rounded team capable of excelling in the 2 main game modes (ball/tbd), as well as having good dog-fighting instincts for TDM. This will also bring together the altitude community, since you are required to draft players rather than automatically have them on your team by default if you are in a clan with them or whatever. It is up to the teams to work together and build the synergy needed to become successful, since a lot of your teammates might be people you haven't worked together with in a competitive game before.

If ball is to be included perhaps a 9 player cap as opposed to the current 8 player cap would be better, as ball requires 6 members to show and 6/8 is a steep task for a bunch of randoms with no real loyalty to each other.

Good points. Having 75% of your team show up is certainly difficult but its not impossible.

Only BB didn't make the playoffs in APL, why try then?

THe better you do in group stages the easier schedule you get.

Don't you want the 1st seed?

Keep in mind that Seed 1 and 2 are equals. Getting seed 2 is just as good as getting seed 1. Also getting seed 7 or seed 8 is equally as bad.

I can play and also captain. I will show up and be active just as i did last time, i am a bit worried about some facts (and its not about you york i trust u to run this):
- The draft is gonna be INCREDIBLY SLOW
- Players wont care about showing up
- Fielding 6/8 players is near to impossible

The draft will be slow, I'll admit. That is why I am leaving only 1 month to register this way we start the draft ASAP.

Also, I am picking the 8 MOST ACTIVE captains, this way it won't be incredibly slow. I believe we did the draft in about 3 days last time.

Players have to show up, it's in the contract. Also, players with "!" next to their name are people who will not be allowed to play if other want to.

For example, Blue will be kicked out if DMCM wants to play but misses the registration date.

People with a "!" are either
1) not trustworthy to show up
2) have never played anything competitive
3) are not in-deep with the community
