Community points are an incentive to share and advertise Altitude among friends and acquaintances, to bring people from your COMMUNITY into the Altitude COMMUNITY.

They are not personal achievement, congratulations heres a cookie, points.

right but once the players get into the game, that might encourage them to get more and get better and thus get more people. Also the good guys get some points

I understand your point Jrathje, but keeping the current players is just as important.

Playing altitude is fun and is thus its own reward, imo.

If you want community points, help support the community either grow or develop in some way, not just continue having fun and blowing up planes.

Getting a new skin is gonna be a huge determining factor in whether or not a player hangs around?

Not necessarily, but having something reward current players for playing a certain amount of hours or getting a certain amount of XP would be neat.

I guess I should have voiced it, but I disagree with Blue.

I never said I wanted to. I just said I want you guys to argue and explain this to me. I just think that there should be more ways then 4-5.

I disagree, but people with popular servers should get rewarded, imo. Like, ball dojo, air servers, ladder, etc etc. Those servers should get recognition because they are contributing to the community and not doing things just for themselves, like accomplishing x hours or y kills.

Oh, and I somehow have negative 69 points, how does that happen? lol.

Edit: I know this is off topic, but what if server's got awards for being one of the most commonly played on/most stable, and more? Just a thought

I could understand if people want to argue that certain people should get community points for things they've done to contribute to the community. For instance:

* Nobo/Eso/Maimer/King/? for creating ladder
* Tec for creating alt bouncer
* Krawz for hosting ball dojo
* Phong for hosting ladder, apl, palp, a million other things, etc
* All of the maps people have created
* Etc

With that being said - the points are supposed to be given out if you help the community. Simply existing in the community is not necessarily helpful in and of itself. In fact, there are many people who detract from the community by trolling, raging, etc.

But stuff like getting 1 million xp - who cares? You abused the system to get to the xp you're at lol. Farming bots or goals or other things is not helpful to the community at all. Even getting 1 million experience without cheating is still not really helping unless you take your experience and do something with it - like writing valuable guides.

all very true, correct. i think that moderators should get a monthly prize, 50 cp perhaps for helping out. Admins like lamkarl doesnt matter, cause they can give themselves it. hitting 1,000,000 xp, no one cares obviously except you and only you. people who bot farm should be banned, anyway. so what youve said is right, maps that have been created and servers should be rewarded. new england servers, official 1-3 servers are awesome, ladder, even apl servers are cool. ball dojo <3333 and coop servers, ZzR, link2 coop, etc. Mike, i agree completely on your part. I think graphic designers that have helped this community should be rewarded(me, ajuk, arty, tmic, loli, cookie, etc.), and might encourage new ones to come. It all turns around if this happens imo.

50 cp per month is too much, and moderators are volunteers (right?) so they probably won't get paid, even though they do a good job

people who bot farm should be banned, anyway.
I disagree, even though bot farming/goal farming/base farming/etc is wrong, you shouldn't be banned for just finding a lupol in the system, this game is fun and I know that if someone was banned, they might go kill themselves, and we don't want that on our hands

so what youve said is right, maps that have been created and servers should be rewarded.
Yes, this is what I think, maps too

So people get community points for making graphics for people's clan threads? I disagree with that, they really aren't helping the community that much, just providing 15-20 people with a want of a clan logo

Alright but you've just made a few clan logos, nothing that would help the community, like maps going official.

I don't think I should be rewarded for being a graphic designer, this isn't a graphic design for it's a fame forum for crying out loud!
Heck, I don't deserve a thing!

This is where you're wrong. Once the players have paid, it doesn't matter if they keep playing.

To be honest, threads like this actually make me feel annoyed toward the person posting them. I mean, you really don't have to be old to understand this concept. The point of community points is to spread the word so that the game can make more money. So getting community points for reaching are rank 10 doesn't quite accomplish this. This is what advertising is all about.

Your point is slightly flawed imo. Without a community nobody would want to buy this game. If you log on and see nobody online then you are not going to want to buy the game. Keeping players is important - but not as important at finding new players.

Fair enough. I agree that if enough players left this game would lose its appeal. But I also have to say that getting a skin or not probably won't make enough people leave the game for that to happen. The max amount of players who would leave altitude because they can't get skins without sharing the game is maybe 10.

So make a map. There are dozens of pretty decent map ideas that got thrown away and forgotten because the creator had no idea what to do with an image editor.

I can also throw some stuff together and create a team logo from stock images in about 5 minutes flat, it's not hard and you shouldn't get 100 CP every time you do it :|

I have 1000 community points all of them earned through stuff that is not friend referral as I have no friends.

BE CREATIVE and stop asking stupid questions.
You have a sweet idea ? Good. Do it.

Well, why don't we try and sell them? How many players has altitude got? 2,000?more? Although I don't think people will buy them...
