I thought i should propose this and see if anyone has any objections...
This is the way they do it for the world cup so yerp... Everyone starts off at 100 rating for APL season 5.... So the formula is 10x(MatchImportance)x(MatchResult)x(OppositionStre ngth) So, Match Importance is measured by a certain coefficient... such as Pre-season match = 0.25, Regular Season Match = 1.00, Playoff Match = 1.5, and APL championships = 2.0 (due to change).... Match result is like, W = 3, a 2-1 W = 2, a tie is 1, A 2-1 loss is 1, and a 2-0 loss is 0... Oppositions strength would be (total ranking teams) - (rank of team) divided by 10.... With this formula, u can see how many points a team can receive for beating another team... [TC] vs. KLF KLF Wins 2:1, so this was the first game last season that TC played... we can assume both teams have the same ranking so opposition ranking would be 1, with both teams rating at 100... if KLF won 2:0, match result = 3, Match importance = 1.00, Opposition strength = 1.00, x 10 So basically, 2x3x1x10 = 60.. Which is alot, but we can start of everyone at 500 points or something to make it more even.. If KLF won 2:1, then it would be 2x2x1x10 = 40, and TC would have 2x(1) for the 2:1 loss, still 1 point) x 1 x 10 = 20... so TC would lose 20 points, and KLF would gain 20 points cuz of the difference... ACE vs. FLB finals... saying fLb won 4-3... ACE was ranked 1... so... 4-3 would be like 1.5 or something...apl championship = 2, opposition strength for #1 seed is 2.00...so flb won and would have... 1.5x2x2.00x10 = 60 points ACE would prevent a loss of... 1x1.8x2x10 = 36... so fLb would win 24 points... I'd be willing to start this for APL season 5..i can keep an upgraded spreadsheet after each week if everyone wants to see something like this... a rating chart... |

here is a spreadsheet i made, kind of messy but
https://spreadsheets1.google.com/pub...EE&output=html Winner would win 37.5 Points... unless its 2-1, whereas the winner will gain 12.5 points and the loser loses 12.5 points! for area 51 vs. BB the only teams registered |

counting opposition strengths is totally subjective
counting that in the beginning/middle of the regular season would be very wrong, since teams haven't played the same opponents and thus may not be compared equally. |

thats how everything starts though.. every rating system starts that way...eventually it would fix itself out... and this isnt just for one season, its for the long run...so a team can have like a high rating, but eventually they would start losing so many points for every loss.....i mean this is just an idea, everything can be fixed ^_^

This would be really awesome ... The only question I have to ask is that I saw you wrote " Scheduled Friendly = 0.5 " and "Non APL Bracket = 1.0" by that you mean which matches? regular scrims ? or?

like organized scrims...between teams spectated by an APL admin... and NON apl bracket is like an APL tournament or something in the offseason

Exactly which is why I mean this is only reasonable to consider such a variable as "team strengths" after a regular season has been completed. You may consider this staring from play-offs. Otherwise this rating system is flawed.
"every ranking system starts like this" You mean broken and then it needs to be fixed? I'm pointing on the week spot Why do you need this anyway? :-/ |

He likes creating a new rating and a new website every time he starts a new APL season. Nobody will care about either one in a couple days but until then play along.
Hey evil, nice work. ^_^ |
