Should I Spec?
I was in ladder the yesterday and, as normal, I was attempting to laser-ise anything that came near me. Sky (who is always on the opposing team for some reason) was going on, saying I was really lagging and I was spiking like hell, etc etc... and also I think one other person mentioned it once in like 6 games.
Fair enough, based on this, I should spec the next game. However, I wasn't spiking, I had a constant 100 ping (not great, but not bad) and I even ask the current spectators to verify if they could see any spikes; no one could. In addition to this, I have never seen Sky not QQ about something in a match, even if he is winning. After a couple of games of berating me, Sky moved onto telling someone else off for lagging/being useless, so I assume this solved itself. My question is, if you are told by the other team you are lagging (not admins), but there is no evidence of you lagging, then are you obliged to spectate the next game and, if so, how do you know when this mysterious lag has sorted itself out? |

You should only spec if the other team is down a member. Don't play ladder if you believe your own connection is unplayable, but 100 is perfectly acceptable imo. On an unrelated note, I have never once seen Sky spec because of this and he was probably just crying because he was getting his ass kicked. Tell him your carecup is empty and move on.

2.) If you want to see your ping whilst speccing, you can check off "show fps and ping" under your gameplay options. I think it checks your ping a little less often, so small spikes aren't that noticeable, but big ones should be easily seen. |

Sky whines, don't listen to him.
You do spike to 100 though, which I always hate because laggy lazers are always hard to dogfight. |

Casual inquiry: Is his lag similar to Evil's short "hops"?

I don't spike to 100, I am always at 100. I have a UK connection, so it's never going to be below that for US servers.

Yea, I was thinking of someone else. Rib has Euro lag, not spikes. My b.
I really want sky to weigh in with his 4th grade english skills. |

Rib actually has one of the better Europe connections. He had a ping of 8 on German server, while me from Germany had a ping of 20. I bet it must be some high-speed university/college link.
Most europe players on Ladder average at 130. So Rib's 100 is pretty good for Euro. In fact, I don't remember anyone from Europe on Ladder servers with a lower ping than that. Of course spikes are still possible regardless of pings. |

I always figured his 100 was just a ****ty American connection, not a really good euro one.

u all suck, i mean you play stupid games like Rugby football but with pads and helmets on and only eat things that are illuminous and bad for your gut.
euro lag is only euro lag when we (the minority) play your servers. I spend 90% of my time on Euro servers with a nice juicy 22 ping, US who? |

Don't feel a need to spec unless if a bunch of people are separately asking you to do so, imo. |
