This is no April fool's joke. Altitude Ladder Season 2 will begin in one week on the night of April 8th, sometime between 10 pm and 3 am EST (depending on when I get home).

Ladder will remain up the way it currently is until I bring it down that day. The records as they are for season 1 will be archived somewhere and possibly viewable later, but for season 2 everyone will begin anew.

I just got into the top 10 and I have a GOOSE ending 14 win streak in ball that I hope to get upto 18. See it like this though: you'll be instantly transported back to mid rating and you'll trend to where you should be much faster.

Rating system is going to be changed a bit so having last season's records compared to the new one won't really make much sense.

Yes but we can still go back and look at a person's ranking from Season 1. Doesn't need to be a comparison.

In ladd2, can I play only on my smurf on ladd and not on my main? Or will I still get a ban. If so, why, may I ask?

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong other ladmins - but i'm pretty sure you're allowed to play on a smurf provided you never play on your main. Just let an admin know who your smurf is ahead of time so we don't accidentally ban you.
