Patch: April 2nd, end of round map votes, misc improvements

April 2nd, 2011 New server config option "End of round map vote": call a map selection vote (choose from 3 maps) at the end of every round (enabled by default for servers with 3 or more maps in rotation) 1st map is based on a standard cycle through the entire map rotation list 2nd map is a top 50% map based on previous end of round map votes 3rd map is chosen at random New server config option "Disallow demo users": prevent demo users from joining this server Updated JSON entry for "clientAdd" -- now includes a "demo":true/false attribute to identify demo users New console command for custom server hosts: "logPlanePositions" -- writes a JSON entry to ~Altitude/servers/log.txt of type "logPlanePositions" with current positions of all planes New console command "testWindowedFullscreen" - improves program-switching (Alt+Tab) for many graphics drivers If a tournament is in progress, the score screen (TAB) will render the names of participants that are currently spectating with the color of the team they are assigned to Adjusted landing on TBD bases using mouse control to more closely match keyboard behavior Removed hours played from the facebook post Improved friends list retrieval - should resolve problem of not receiving all friends at login Updated official maps: ball_arcade - Changed background color to be darker (RGB=26,54,75). This only effects users with parallax turned off. Changed usernames to white. ball_hardcourt - Added side walls at ends of map, Darkened Background, Removed powerups right next to spawns. tbd_chess - Updated to latest version. Removed a few official maps pending further adjustments: ball_sewer.altx - Spawn points put you straight into a wall. ball_pulse.altx - Background is very busy and blends with the foreground making it difficult to see collidable objects (unfair advantage for parallax off players). ball_swarm.altx - Map is very cramped thus giving certain planes an unfair advantage. Some spawn points are too close to a wall. tbd_hills - Too easy to bomb. Bad graphics. tbd_chamber - Bases are too far apart creating never ending games. tbd_poseidon.altx - Removed by author request. Work in progress. |

tbd_hills still on rotation. Maybe not rotation, but it was on choice list(vote 1 or vote 2 for tbd_hills, dont remember)

Nice update. The voting feature seems like a cool idea.

This might actually be my favorite patch in terms of convenience. Changing maps is nice, the colored names are a godsend, and I can safely reenable the Facebook app. Nice!

Hills has not been removed from Official 4 TBD - maxping=400 (i think thats the svr name)

All you people cheering Hills being removed, was it really hurting anyone? Hills has always been one of my favorite maps because it was bright, sunny, and cheerful. There are NO other maps that take place in such a pleasant sunny day as Hills does. I wish it would be updated or something made to take its place.
What is the purpose of the logPlanePositions command? I understand what it does but what is its purpose? |

By continuously invoking logPlanePositions custom servers can track the positions of players as the game progresses.
Hopefully plane positions will be used for a variety of neat stuff, but one straightforward application is to create "heat maps" for common routes and camp locations on ladder maps, for example here are some heat maps from Counter-Strike: http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?p=615847 |

If you aim your mouse slightly higher than the angle of the base, your plane will nose down to adjust to the base.
