Default Suggested Dogfighter Buff

*May also apply to recoilless*

Change the color of the bullets for just the pilot. This way, the primary / secondary still keep some of their "invisibility" while the pilot sees like bright red bullets so he can trace his shots.

Maybe also make the shots a little more transparent to enemy planes? AKA make the shots more "invisible" so that they are harder to see coming.

edit: Reasoning is that it'll help RL / DF's long-distance kill potential without buffing its close range burst.

I never saw any problem with tracing your own bullets (for primary) when i played dog. Dog fighter is meant to be a close combat plane, get inside the other plane and burst them. The primary attack should be used as a weapon to shoot your enemy when they try to escape.

Note: possibly the reason why i could see the bullets with ease is that i have always played with parallels off. I will test with parallels on when i get home from school.

Maybe it's just map specific. I got this idea playing on core which has a brownish background. I also only have a few thousand biplane kills so maybe I just haven't gotten used to it.

This suggested buff wouldn't help any good dogfighter player at all. They can see their own bullets fine.

Vipr, while you have a good point, DF is way more about the F button than you are giving credit for. Imo F to weaken them first then get in and FD for kill instead. You can get tons of kills without using D at all, especially against remotes who are not fun to get close to. (f u mat and woken)

If i were to suggest a slight buff I would recommend giving their primary weapon piercing, because secondary piercing rarely comes into play due to its short range.

I guess we have two completely different dogfighter styles. But if you prefer to use F rather than getting in close, you might as well be using recoilless.

i used to raped whales by getting in close. Once right in them its harder for them to use their mines to get you off of them.

Keep in mind you guys come from different game mode backgrounds. From my experience, in tbd you have enough time to fly up and get some altitude so you can swoop in close with decent speed to use F+D, while in ball the action is constant and you cannot necessarily afford as much time to afterburner up and in order to be able to swoop in close for F+D.

From my limited recoilless/dogfighter experience, any half-decent explo is going to see you coming and position themselves in time so that with missiles/mines it's practically impossible to get close.

when i was on sammich i played dogfighter, so any whale we played against. I do remember being able to kill Mat, X, Woken and Kuja. I always considered dogfighter to be my anti whale plane, so i find it funny we are having this conversation.

i find it an excellent anti-thermo plane, but a good remote in a tight area is not fun to deal with. If he is in an open area it's a much different story

i don't see any reason to buff biplane further, its use is at an all-time high in ladder since the last buff
