Default Shield Reflecting Bomb Bug

So I'm playing with Esoteric on woods, do my reverse barrel rolls, yada yada, get past his whole team, perfect lob, it's on course to hit his base but only just.

I see Eso flying towards my bomb from behind it with a shield. "Stupiiiid" I think. He hits the bomb and sure enough does nothing but propel it faster towards his own base.

And then it GOES STRAIGHT THROUGH THE BASEF FADSFASDUFAOSUFOASFJOASFHA

Please, fix this. Shielding bombs through your own base is not a fun bug.

Once he touches it with shield, it becomes friendly, and thus wont do damage to his own base(ive done the same on more then one occasion). The rest is just lag..

no issue here.

Oh, so it's intended that you can reflect a bomb into your own base without it doing any damage?

That's pretty stupid.

well, think it through. anything that touches the shield changes sides. if I shoot a shield with an emp, it bounces back and emps my own guys. this feels appropriate, right? so to make it work the way you want with bombs, they'd be the ONLY thing in the game that doesn't change sides when it hits a shield.

Oh yeah, I understand it now - it just feels kind of wierd; especially because bombs do friendly fire to everything else except their own bases, and therein lies the confusion I had with the shielding.

Still, it feels kind of cheap that you only need one player to sit on the base and just touch the bomb with a shield whenever it gets dropped; not even reflect it in an appropriate direction, just scrape it slightly.

Current game mechanics aside, am I the only one who thinks this is wierd or is everyone else pretty happy with how it works?

Bombs don't do friendly fire to everything except their own base. They don't do friendly fire at all.

I think the game mechanic with the shield is fine as it is.

Have you ever thought about making it so that an exploding bomb will do damage to all planes regardless of which team launched it? Then maybe have team-kills count as a negative kill or something?

I was pretty certain this is how it is already. Not only that, but I know for a fact that it works this way with missiles too - on more than one occasion I've killed my own teammate with a launched missile. I can understand if this isn't intended though, because I seem to get rewarded with xp for these teamkills :P

IMO this would be a bad change for a few reasons

1) bomb campers that immediately take out team mates
2) if you're escorting someone who drops the bomb early you probably die too
3) lobbed bombs have even more targets to hit
4) lots of griefing

I think the reason that missiles hit teammates is they lock on to an enemy target, which promptly dies or somehow gets away from the lock, so the missile targets the next closest target regardless of team. Ive killed so many teammates this way

The only real bug with bombs and shields is that if your team lobs a bomb, and someone on that team bounces the bomb with a shield, and if you have a shield and try to bounce the bounced bomb back, it goes right through your shield. I know this because I once bounced a bomb on Hills back over the hill into the enemy base, only to have King try to shield it and fail.

I think that was probably lag. I have seen multiple shielded bombs on many occasions.
