How do you use biplanes long range gun?
I suck with the long range gun. I can only kill people with it when they're almost dead already.
I've found firing two shot bursts (correcting aim between bursts) helps a little, but not much. Any tips on using this weapon? |

We talking heavy cannon or recoilless?

I often find myself falling into a 'shoot first then aim' behavior when I have multiple shots at my disposal, as with the normal gun. Try to have a goal to play like you're using the HC, but since you do have multiple shots available, try to 'bracket' your aim with shots that you might think are a little early, and some that you might think are a little late. You're more likely to connect with at least one shot if you do that, and hopefully more! |

Long range gun (recoilless) I use to kill already heavily damaged ennemies, or during my approach. When I hold a position, i spam it through tiny chokes, like on middleground or lostcity : if there are ennemies behind, you can damage/kill them, so it's worth it.
Anyway, with recoilless, at least 90% of your kills should be at close range. If thats not the case, you're missing something, and should use heavy cannon instead. |

I think people really underestimate the standard biplane's long range gun. practice using it ANY time the enemy is outside the range of your machine gun, you'll be surprised at how effective it can be once you improve your aiming a little. esp since most players unconsciously underestimate a biplane that isn't at point blank range so they don't dodge the way they probably should.

Protip: To kill the enemy plane, shoot at it until it dies

consider the speed of who you're shooting at, their path, any nearby chokepoints and shoot where they will be when your bullets get there.
It's called leading your shots, and it isn't rocket science. just practice and you'll get used to it. Spend more time watching peoples movement and you'll see patterns emerge that you can use to your advantage. |

OMFG I was wondering why I couldn't kill anyone. It all seems so simple now.

When you are behind an enemy, and he's out of your machinegun range, do you:
A) Try to hit him with the long range gun (not heavy canon). B) Use your thrusters to try and get closer, then kill him with the machine gun. I always do B, unless he's just too far away and about to bomb the base. |

What's wrong with the long-range gun? I get most of my kills sniping from far away when a plane is afterburning to escape my close-range burst. Lead the shots and they're yours.

A is almost always better imo, assuming you can aim. with B you waste half your ammo bar closing the distance, do crappy dmg because you odn't have much energy left, then you have to afterburner again to catch up because the recoil slowed you down. :/

How do you use biplanes short-range gun?
Sorry to hijack this thread, but contrary to our original poster I am having a problem with the short-range gun.
I imagine that anything within the 'machine gun burst' graphics takes damage. However, I feel as if I am getting inconsistent results when using it in this way. It might just be that I the speeds relative to my target are too fast for me to register much sweet sweet damage? |

I believe it's actually shooting out projectiles that have to hit the target. if you get unlucky and the random spread causes you to miss a few shots, that could explain why it's been inconsistent for you.

I'll make sure to have the buggers properly square in front of me, then, so I can pound the flaccid flanks of their flapping flyers into so much mulch and mash. |

The burst's recoil is useful. I am trying to play dogfighter/reverse thruster, so I have reverse capability even when EMP'd. It's a challenge to learn to play it properly, but I'm more about the mastery than the ratio.

Oh god, now everyone knows the secret of jamming F and D. I hope we don't see an influx of Biplanes now that this knowledge has been passed on.
