I dont know what you're looking for.
If you want to make something that will be used in diferent media (print, web, tv, etc...) i definetely advise you to make it vectorial - so search for vectorial programs like coreldraw or ilustrator.
If you want something not necessarily professional, use any image editing program like photoshop, paint, etc...
There are some free programs around google them. Asyou are making that question im assuming you dont know much about logos so googling for logo tutorials would be a start point.

Designing graphics (making logos) is complicated. What you are asking right now would be comparable to asking Rembrandt how to paint La Marche de Nuit. It takes time to learn and in the beginning the stuff you'll come up with won't be very good if you do not put some effort into it.
If you want to learn and do that, I suggest downloading programs like Photoshop or Illustrator (or Gimp which is free)and start taking lessons. There are some people in the altitude community that master graphic design and I believe some of them would be keen to help you if you send them a PM.
