Weekly Draft Games
With the constant issues of plane composition in ladder and the positive comments I hear about captain's games, I had an idea I wanted to propose to the Alti community that if there's enough interest, I'd be happy to try to organize. The odds of us getting enough to show seem slim but it'd be cool to try.
If in the rare chance we can conjure up at least 18 people, preferably 24, we could have 3 or 4 teams drafted by randomly selected captains play a round-robin with the 2 highest teams playing a championship. I think it'd be a cool way to introduce a few to the more competitive side of Altitude and bring more intensity. As I said, I'd be glad to try to organize/judge such a tourney if there was enough interest. Thoughts? |

Sounds good Also I reckon it could be easily done. I think you'd have to be uing both APL servers to speed it up though

I don't know bout having a championship and all that jazz but just having a day and time to get some captains games going weekly would be great.

Sounds phenomenal. I'm so down with this.
I would have a signup to participate and then have them answer yes or no to being a captain. I'm sure there are some people that wouldn't want to captain but still participate. |

Okay, maybe in the case we have a large group we can stick to the round-robin to have multiple teams. I thought the tourney idea would add a nice little edge to it, but really I'm just trying to add another way for players to quench that competitive thirst. Any preferences to how maps should be chosen?

I think the draft is a really nice idea, but lets not try to run before we can walk, else this is likely to fall flat on its face. If we have 30+ turning up for captains games every week, then a draft would be a cool thing to organise. |

because i've tried at least 3-4 times to set up weekly captains games and every single time the time rolls around people would just rather play ladder

This is a great idea. In captains, unlike ladder we can make a team with an apporpriate plane setup and usually the games are much better than ladder.
Since sundays are usually for APL/SL/other competitions, we should try saturdays. Say... 2 PM EST? |

That sounds reasonable to me. Most people are awake by then, and it's not late enough that anyone is going out yet (at least in 'murca)

2pm est is 8pm on a saturday night over the water. we are not so sad in europe that we can play on a saturday night
on the other hand, weekly captains games is a cracking idea. if we had enough we could do two, 1 american and 1 eu. that way it would be easier to do weekday evenings which must be easier in some ways i would of thought. |

Yeah, the weekly captain games is a great idea. I'm surprised this idea hasn't come up a lot before.
