Default Lack of sportsmanship should be a bannable offense

Just saying. You know who you are.

These "lack of context threads" in the ladder discussion are truly a waste of space.

Ok, context:

We were trying to start a game in Ladder 1. we had 10 players but Knipchip said he was lagging too much to play. So we waited for one more person to come. When that happened, a vote was started to custom_start asteroids or random, either way the map was asteroids. I - and most other people I imagine - thought Knipchip would sit, since he said before he couldn't play so we joined. However, Knipchip did join and seconds later disconnected. Flight was kind enough to sit, but I told them to stop tournament because he'd keep disconnecting and by then the server had enough people to start a 5v5 game without a problem. I also explained I thought Knipchip wasn't playing. This was before any bases were hit. Purple voted no and kept playing, Knipchip kept disconnecting and he said out loud it was impossible for him to play. Another vote and purple still voting no. Then they hit. We tried sitting to force them to stop tournament and start a proper match, but now that they'd hit they kept playing 5v2 or whatever and won, insulting us in the process.

This applies to you only DMCM. I'd leave it at that but seeing how you felt the need to bring this to public I have to defend myself. I dont know what the hell went in that game because I couldn't be assed to read all the crap that was being written. I just know that this happened:
  1. Knipchip dcs and comes back right after in 2 seconds
  2. Our team gets a full bomb hit CLEANLY 5v5.
  3. You start whining something about 4v4 and spec out, as does carbon despite knip being there and playing. He was out of the game for 2 seconds at this point.
  4. You continiously call stop tourney votes and we bomb your base 2v5 or something because you, carbon and someone else were specing.

Now from my point of view all you did was use knip's lag as a chance to squeeze your way out of the game (why? i have no idea it was just one bomb hit...). We had zero problems playing and you went ahead and ruined the game completely for god knows what reason. I find it completely laugheable that you would even dare to accuse me and other players on my team that time of lack of sportsmanship. We didn't do anything wrong. You decided to do retarded **** by speccing and encouraging your team to do the same. In my eyes you were just trying to avoid disadvantageous situation you were in by playing the "knip lags i dont wanna play" card. Yes, so classy .

Edit: post above is incorrect. Knip disconnected and reconnected so fast we didn't have to sit anyone. Then we bombed your base some time later. Then you specced and THEN flight specced for YOU. Knip disconnected only once. Nice lying.

I wasn't trying to avoid a "disadvantageous situation". there was no advantage. Both bases were unhit. I was trying to avoid a 4v4 game, when it as unnecessary when we could play a quality 5v5 game instead, like Princess pointed out before.

Of course Knip is at fault too.

He shouldn't have joined that game and especially shouldn't have joined back after disconnecting. As bad as 4v4 is, the uncertainty of 5v5 with a player disconnecting at any second is much worse.

Again this has to be a joke. Knip was away for whole two seconds. For that you felt you had to stop the game? It was perfectly fine. Yes Knip was lagging. Many people lag. It was 5v5 fine and proper until you started doing your antics. And we did in fact have a bomb hit on your base when you specced out and called 5 stop_tourney votes.

The facts are simple. We were playing 5v5. Then you specced out and your team did too making it 5v2 game. Yes, much much better than 5v5 with a chance of Knip dc'ing and coming back in 2 seconds.

Love ya Leggo .

But DMCM , I must say , IF the mistake of starting a game with a lagging person hapened then just finish it fast 4 v 4 if he really can't play , I would have MAYBE understood if it was a map that would go for 30mins but no it was asroids so done in 5mins either way.
The biggest problem started when you sitted and encoureged other players from your team to do so, which I do not support.
Imo I don't like stop tournys in ladder , only in remote situations if we have to , 4 v 4 its not 1 of those.

Does it really matter how fast he returned? His ping was too high, he could disconnect again at any moment.

If we were defending a bomb and he disconnected when he was about to block, would that be ok? Either we'd play like that or play 4v4, either would suck and we were less than a minute into the match, n oharm done stopping it.

I don't understand why some people still care more about winning than having a good game.

You cannot sit in protest, I damn sure would never stop bombing if a team tried to do that to me.

When people refuse to listen any other way what am I supposed to do?

I didn't want to play 4v4 or with constant disconnections from a player. Either I'd sit and try to force them to listen or I'd leave. I keep getting banned from ladder because morons or noobs refuse to listen.

Which is why we need captains games badly.

You seem to have a problem understanding something. The game we were playing wasnt great, but it wasnt terrible. You made it completely unplayable. Theres a big difference between those two. Then you also go ahead and say we are noobs and morons and create this thread which is just .

But who would want to play a bad game when it hasn't really started yet and you have enough people for a good one without those issues?

You accused me of trying to dodge a disadvantageous situation when I had no such thing in mind. Maybe you thought his disconnections were advantageous to your team. I don't know. I don't understand the logic behind your votes.

Getting Captains' games going would suit the bill! Whenever you see me online DMCM, remind me and ill bring others.

It may not be a solution to your problem but all i know is this;

Some of the best games i can remember having were from Captains' games, for what seems like an era ago now...

I can say that i dont mind playing both ball and tbd but obv i favour tbd.

LE LETS DOOOOO EEETTTT

I lold at this thread so hard.

Specing in "protest" cause the tourney wont stop when you feel its not a good game should and is a bannable offense. And why would ANYONE stop bombing you when you guys are just acting like a bunch of ten year olds and sit during a game you are in.

Sounds like the 3 people that speced for no reason besides the fact one other player on the other team had high ping should be the ones that get banned for ruining the game for the other 7 people.

Unfortunately for you DMCM, leaving midgame is a bannable offense, and doing it in protest of a 4v4 doesn't make it any better. Playing 4v4s or 5v5s in ball has become an acceptable practice by now, since there isn't really any good solutions to solving problems with disconnects. And the vote for stop tournament has and will continue to be decided by the majority. Specing in the game despite the majority's decision to continue is unacceptable.
