just wondering if anyone else feels like it is now a little harder for low ping players to have precision bomb drops, especially ones that rely on mere pixels and parts of seconds to work

It was pretty much impossible to block non-lob bombs before with 150 ping. Most likely your "precision" drops went straight through laggy players and now they can actually block. Too bad

when lobbing vs a laggy player you basically need to add anywhere from half to an entire plane length of room to ensure that it gets by them because god only knows where they actually are on the screen |

How it was: Bombs are clientside, like any other projectile. If the bomb hits a plane on your screen, it will explode on that plane, if it misses planes on your screen, it will miss those planes. This is why lag bombs were much complained about, because you had to predict for lag when blocking bombs.
This worked both ways, if someone with 50 ping bombs and you have 300 ping, you need to compensate for your own lag in blocking. How it is now: I haven't played much lately but in what I did play the new code made my bombs get blocked a lot more, even when they were actually good bombs and not lag-abuse. Conversely, blocking bombs from other players for me seemed just as difficult. The current state of the game is most likely that lagging is now a handicap for bombing, and certainly a handicap for blocking. |

na you didnt have to adjust for laggers trying to block because where they appear on your screen is where they are as far as their ability to block goes. Now on THEIR screen, they are actually in position to block, but since they are 300ms behind the bomb thrower, it would seem like the bomb went through. It was just as hard for laggers to block bombs as it was for nonlaggers to block lag bombs. I forgot waht exactly the patch did but i would think it affects the lobs and blocks similarly. If its easier for block lag bombs, it would be easier for laggers to block bombs. The only problem is now, what appears like a clean hit can be interpreted as blocked because its not client side anymore. |
