Mid player maps
I took old maps and simplified them for mid level players. Please try them out on your mid level friendly servers.
Maps are available for play on: Official New Players 40+ #1 - US Official New Players 40+ #2 - US Official New Players 40+ #3 - US ball_cavern (modified cave) ball_gliderpark (modified planepark). The aesthetics aren't as good as the original but I think it still plays well. ball_meteoroids (modified asteroids). Better than the real asteroids? ball_powder (modified snow) Thanks and enjoy. |

I would like to know why "new" and "mid" maps for new players...are only BALL? why not a single map TBD?

Ball is out best game mode. It was designed along w/ the community well after the game came out and fixes most of the issues found in other game modes. This along w/ the massive popularity of ball_football among causal players prompted us to try and design maps that would appeal to casual players that hardcore players could enjoy as well.
Bottom line is Altitude needs more players and consolidating the new player base behind a single starting game mode will create more long term players. |

There's no point in making new and mid level player maps for TBD because new and midlevel players don't play TBD, they all flock to BALL. It's generally only when they've improved at the basics of the game that TBD starts to become more attractive.

It's not happening because TBD isn't as fun. It's slow, has long spawn times, and the actual "goal" of the mode is only in play for part of the game.
Like think of Call of Duty. Do you know how annoyed I get when I play capture the flag mode, and have to wait like 10 seconds to respawn after every death? I want to be playing the game, not watching the game. |

^No, cos it really isn't. And if it is, it really shouldn't be.
The unwashed masses that play ball play it because they are for whatever reason unable to play TBD. They should be punished for this, and coerced into playing TBD. Balance the game so that ball becomes more unattractive, if anything. 15-second spawn times would be a nice touch. And a 75% speed reduction while handling the ball. And knocking TBD spawn time to 2-3 seconds would be nice. /Yeahright. |

The spawns and the area behind the spawns on meteroids are really buggin' me. See pic below
I'd also like to the spawns straightened: most ball maps have them either at a serious angle or straight. Also the team balls are way to close to the spawns. I'd say move them at least 2 lengths farther away. Cavern and gliderpark look great. |

Right now the whole area behind the spawns looked like a bunch of grouped together graphics from the whole map all thrown in there, reminiscent of several co-op maps. I'd suggest just making it look a bit more natural placed. Maybe you could snag the top rocks used for the originial tbd_asteroids wraparound cover? If not you could just clear it out completely, making a cup-like shape for the spawns similar to ball_snow.
