Problems With Launching Altitude: Added MySystemInfo.txt :)
Ok, first of all, I would like to say that I can't just do the normal "Reinstall" procedure (I'm using the Steam version by the way) because of some steam glitch that happened. :\. I had the game for about 20 minutes, then exited out to go do something, and it disappeared from the list of games. However, i found that it was still in the "SteamApps/common" folder. so for a while I was just using the application there to launch the game and it still communicated with steam just fine surprisingly. But recently I've had a problem where I can't launch altitude, the icon appears for a second, then disappears.
EDIT: It works for the version downloaded off of the altitude site, so I don't think it's my computer that's the problem, but the steam version is broke and i don't wanna start over OS: Mac OS X 10.6.7 (Snow Leopard I think) Last edited by iamjagman; 07-27-2011 at 06:57 PM. Please try the standalone version from http://altitudegame.com

What I was saying in my edit was that I had already done that and it worked, but I don't think you can log into Altitude standalone version with your Steam account and I don't wish to start over. I know I'm only level 27, but I don't have a ton of time to play and it would likely take a while to get back to that point, which I don't wish to do as Miranda is my favorite class, and Miranda unlocks last of the planes/classes.

Delete or rename the altitude folder under steamapps/common. That should allow you to reinstall the game via Steam. Your level, unlocks, progress etc are all saved on our servers so as long as you launch the game from Steam you will have all your progress.

*sigh* What I was saying about me not being able to reinstall meant that Steam no longer recognises that I had bought the game in the first place, so I'm having to use the actual application enclosed in the "Steam/SteamApps/common/altitude" folder, and that it has stopped working. If I deleted the folder, it would be very unlikely that it would come back.

Good point thar :P
EDIT: Didn't work. I'm sad because I can't spare the money to buy it again as I'm saving up for my own computer and the demo doesn't even work on mac :'( EDIT #2: Imma make a few copies of the altitude folder to test things... Last edited by iamjagman; 07-27-2011 at 10:44 PM. |

If Steam isn't recognizing that you own the game you should contact Steam support.
You can copy the standalone Altitude directory to steamapps/common/altitude. Just make sure in ~steam/altitude there is a file called distributor.txt which contains steam also delete ~steam/altitude/config directory. |

That is likely my problem, as, when i deleted the config directory it fails to launch just as it did before. EDIT: I have contacted Steam Support as well, just for good measure. Last edited by iamjagman; 07-28-2011 at 12:53 AM. |

just create a file named distributor.txt and type steam in it.
After creating that file make sure to delete the config directory. |

I tried launching it from terminal, and it generated an error both ways I tried.
(I did try the distributor.txt thing and it still wouldn't launch. :\ ) Error when launching by using the "/Users/<username>/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/altitude/altitude.app/Contents/MacOS/JavaApplicationStub" Code:
[LaunchRunner Error] The main class "com.install4j.runtime.MacLauncher" could not be found. [JavaAppLauncher Error] CallStaticVoidMethod() threw an exception Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException at apple.launcher.LaunchRunner.run(LaunchRunner.java:113) at apple.launcher.LaunchRunner.callMain(LaunchRunner.java:51) at apple.launcher.JavaApplicationLauncher.launch(JavaApplicationLauncher.java:52) Code:
LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10810 for the file /Users/Marc/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/altitude/altitude.app. EDIT: The second one seems to be a problem with opening applications with the "open" command, so it's not important. I just tried it on our mac. I guess there's no way to trick Steam into thinking it has the game installed already... sorry.

Yes you can email us: support@nimblygames.com
I'm not sure exactly what you want us to do. We can change your Steam account to make it where you have to manually log in but then you would need to get an Altitude Registration Key from our PayPal, d2d,gamers gate, or trialpay or else the game won't think you own it. What has steam support said? Have you tried reinstalling steam? Does your steam community page show you as owning the game? |

Everytime you launch Altitude from Steam they create a client blob which is sent to our server and then we send that to the steam servers and they tell us whether or not you own the game. Because of free weekends it is impossible for us to track if someone actually owns Altitude... only Steam knows.
