SL4 Awards Announcement

So, I figured I'd get the ball[lolpun] rolling and start a thread for the first ever Sky League awards.

Notice: I'm basing this off of what our preliminary discussions were and is subject to change.

Award [again, subject to change] Categories:
Best planes
Best defense [individual/team]
Best offense [individual/team]
Best lineup [all star team]
MVP of Regular season
MVP of Playoffs
Most improved team
Most disappointing team
QQed about lag the most

Voting- as opposed to the voting in APL, we will be having a voting committee to reduce team-based biases. While this does not eliminate individual biases, we will attempt to be as objective as possible. We will have an open mumble/irc discussion on a to be determined Sunday and hopefully come to a consensus. We will likely do this at 6pm GMT because that has worked for SL and hopefully we can get this done in 1 hour.

Captains, please list the players on your team who played this SL with their appropriate planes. Also, please nominate either yourself or someone from your team for the voting committee. If you do not think you can be objective, please find someone else from your team to be on the committee. Please makes sure that this is someone who can comment and add to the discussion because unless specified, these awards are for the entire season.

nah, in irc you can type at the same time as people but mumble would be a cluster**** of yelling unless there's some kind of conch shell system with timed speaking times, lol.

aside: is braiden really the best choice to represent a team in this sort of debate environment? his english obviously isn't amazing so it'll be difficult for him to explain specific ideas even if they make perfect sense in his head. just a thought.

I agree with the IRC suggestion. It's easier to track the conversation and reference things that were previously said. Mumble tends to get chaotic and especially with the cheap mic I'm using right now, hard to understand.

i can set up a quick irc channel on quakenet, which is ez-mode to connect to even if you don't own an irc client

Isnt there some sort of group chat thing in game? Or we could just use a server and votekick the outsiders.

it doesn't look like this is happening today, but i personally find the alty built-in group chat to be kind of unwieldy and it's impossible to keep it private. ditto with servers, and vote kicking everyone that isn't in the roundtable while trying to have a discussion also seems kind of silly.

there's a browser-based irc client for quakenet (meaning that you don't need to download/install anything) where we could just set channel ops that can kick anyone that isn't involved in the roundtable. alternatively we could probably set up some kind of global mute if we want to allow people to watch the proceedings?

yeah i got on at the time and there was only two people on so then i posted in here and ended up going to workout instead of sitting around waiting, then like right when i got to the gym Kuja texted me XD
